According to Acts 2:1, the believers were meeting together in one place when the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost. Although the Bible does not tell us what they were doing, Acts 1:14 already told us that they all met together continually for prayer. Therefore, probably the believers were praying at the time the Holy Spirit came. Paul says we should pray for everyone and specifically for authorities so “that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior” (v. 3-4). “‘Quiet’ refers to circumstances around us, while ‘peaceful’ refers to a calm attitude within us.” 6 By praying for our leaders, it provides protection for Christians—allowing them to live holy and godly lives in society. Child advocate and President Emeritus of Compassion, Wess Stafford, shares a prayer for all those caring for children to know God’s patience and grace. Take time to pray that you would know God’s hand on your life as you care for children.

Prayer: Dear God, I thank you for the precious gift of my daughter. I pray you would protect her through the years. May she become a young woman of great character, seeking after your heart. I pray that through the challenges of life, she would find her confidence in you. May she know your joy as her strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Amen. 11. We thank you for this precious baby’s safe arrival into our world. We pray this baby would sleep peacefully and be kept from harm. We pray you would bless this child as they grow. Keep them safe and strong in the weeks, months and years ahead. Give us grace and strength through the highs and lows of caring for a newborn baby. In Jesus’ name. Amen 8. Prayers for teens This in part can be answered by considering the difference between God’s desire and his sovereign will. His sovereign will always happens, as God works all things for the purpose of his will (Eph 1:11). However, his desire does not always happen. God desires that all will be saved, but Scripture clearly teaches that many will be judged (Matt 25:41-46). In addition, we see this even as we consider our own desires and choices. We often have desires like recreation or r Galatians 5:22-23‘the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.’There are many encouraging Bible verses about how believers can turn to Jesus in prayer, by the power of the Holy Spirit , and receive mercy for our world in times of need. Let’s look at what the Bible says about prayer to encourage us to pray with faith , confident of God ’s love and power: Hebrews 4: 16 This is a picture of not only what’s common in public prayer but also our individual prayer. We commonly forget that we are part of a larger body of Christ and ultimately part of an entire world of people. even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior Lord, we lift up our world to you in prayer as we see so much pain and suffering. Give us your wisdom and teach us how to pray for the world. May your kingdom come, and your will be done on E arth as it is in H eaven. Amen . Health and Health Workers

Acts 2:2-4 says, “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (New King James Version).

Powerful prayers for children

We believe God is worth seeking, seeking him in prayer is an essential ministry of the church, and our lives and churches are powerless apart from doing so. So over the past two years, I’ve preached regularly on prayer. We also added a seminar on prayer to our membership class, and we regularly review our convictions about prayer in our worship gatherings.

Prayer: Lord God, we praise you that you are fully in control of all things. I pray you would protect my child. Keep them healthy and help them to thrive. I thank you that you know every hair on their head. You know exactly when they rise and when they fall. Watch over my child in every area of their life and keep them safe I pray, Amen. 2. Prayers from Compassion Ambassadors They were devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. As these Bible verses about friendship remind us, relationships truly are a gift. Take a moment to pray for your child to know the support of great friends around them. Paul says that “requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people.” One of the things we can discern about prayer from this verse is that all people need prayer. There is not one person we know that doesn’t need constant grace from God and, therefore, our prayers.As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. Suggest a Verse Enter a Verse Reference (e.g., John 3:16-17) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” John 16:33 Father God, we ask for your blessing today as we pray these prayers over our children’s lives. We praise you that every day we can trust in your goodness. Amen” 1. Prayers for children’s protection Please protect those vulnerable to illness around the world. We think especially of those living in extreme poverty , where medical assistance is often more difficult to access. Father, we pray for your protection and healing. We pray for our partner churches in different parts of the world working so hard to look after their communities with limited resources. We also lift before you healthcare workers and medical researchers. Thank you for their tireless service. Lord, we praise you for the recent medical advances against many diseases. We pray resources will be fairly distributed around the world. Amen . Natural disasters

Take encouragement from the fact that our God is fully in control of all things, and we’re all a child of God! Remind yourself that “we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 In Acts 4 , the Jewish highest ruling body, the Sanhedrin, had charged Peter and John not to speak or teach again in the name of Jesus. However, they replied that they would rather obey God than men, as they could not but speak the things they had seen and heard. They returned to their companions and they raised their voice to God with one accord. They didn’t pray that they should not be arrested or killed but that they would speak the Word of God with boldness. Ephesians 1:15–23‘I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might.’ Lord Jesus Christ, the church is your beloved bride and we look to you to lead your people. We ask that your word would be clearly and faithfully proclaimed in your church and that, through it, we would be challenged, encouraged and changed. We pray that our leaders would be protected from temptation, complacency and idolatry. We ask that your church would be filled with joy as we sing your praises as we gather together. Fill our prayers with confidence in your mighty power and fill your people with your Holy Spirit. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.Prince of Peace, thank you that we are never alone, your presence calms the troubled sea of our lives and speaks peace to our soul. Your word says that, if we abide in you, we will produce much fruit. We ask that you would make your church fruitful as we seek to build each other up into maturity in Christ. Hear our prayer, Lord. May your love be the passion in our hearts. May your joy be our strength when times are hard. May your presence be our peace that overflows. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen. Thank you Jesus that you have lived here as one of us, you know what it’s like to be a child, and to feel everything that children feel. Thank you that we as adults have everything we need to encourage, nurture and provide for those in need.
