Best enjoyed with premium tonic water, plenty of ice and a wedge of pink grapefruit, or with dry vermouth and a twist of pink grapefruit in a perfect martini. It’s over-egging it to say that terroir has come to gin, but it’s undoubtedly true that a growing number of gins are now an expression of a place. Of course, ‘expression of place’ only works as a concept if the actual gin itself is good, and some ingredients need to be treated with care. A gin that tastes massively of lavender, say, or has strong vegetal aromas, might make a powerful initial impression, but – like a big fruit-bomb of a wine – you could well struggle to finish a glass. Verdict

Another small-batch Irish gin. Along with traditional botanicals, it has dried gunpowder tea in the mix – giving an unmissable aromatic profile and a dry, slightly tannic finish. Palate-cleansing. Alc 43% Overall, Tanqueray Ten endures not because of the reputation, of the brand that preceded it. It endures because it’s a nearly perfectly made gin. Tanqueray No. Ten Gin (47.3%) was introduced in 2000 and is targeted at the martini market. [7] It is distilled four times with whole fresh grapefruit, orange, lime and chamomile flowers

Tanqueray No. 10 | Expert Gin Review and Tasting Notes

Definitely a good gin. I have more positive feelings about it. The citrus gets me. I like that smooth round citrus finish you describe…it hits my tastebud buttons nicely.Tanqueray Rangpur Gin was introduced in Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2006. It has a strong citrus flavor, the result of rangpur limes, ginger, and bay leaves added during the final distillation process. It is produced at 82.6 proof (41.3% abv) and is now available throughout the United States and Canada. It is named after city of Rangpur from where the names of the citrus also came. Gin must be about a balance of flavours to create one flavour,’ explains James Hayman of Hayman’s Gin. ‘We compare it to an orchestra – several different instruments creating one piece of music.’ Local twist Take your Collins to the tropics with this sunny riff. It banks on the drink’s customary call for fresh lime and soda and adds an aromatic addition of pineapple, taking the drink straight to a faraway island. If you thought only rum could offer such a vacation in a glass, think again. Tanqueray No. TEN is an exceptional taste experience with the aroma of citrus fruits and juniper and the flavour of citrus fruits and chamomile flowers. Really have come around to this gin, ultimately deciding it makes the absolute best Last Word; works superbly when paired with either Luxardo or Maraska maraschino (for funky or bright notes, respectively). the extra ABV really helps it hold its own against the Chartreuse, which is no small feat. Overall just a superb gin.
