About this deal

Although, I did guess one of the plot twists, the others were a pleasant surprise. Not all of the characters are likable in this book which worked perfectly for the plot. As I learned more and more about the secrets, lies and motivations of some of the characters, things did begin to make more sense. I was also educated as I hadn't seen the Harold Wilson statue mentioned in the story nor the Antony Gormley sea statues so I googled both after I just finished. The sea figures are especially fascinating. There were a couple of real laugh-out-loud moments in it, despite the seriousness of the tale itself. Now't wrong with a little bit of light relief and it doesn't go overboard in the least on the comedic front, trust me....I like my murderation taken seriously. Deftly crafted, wryly observed, and thoroughly unsettling . . . Caught between Victorian sexual mores and the libertinism of interwar Greenwich Village, Patricia brings a gimlet eye to the pervasive misogyny and sexual hypocrisies of her generation." At first you would expect this book to be like many others, where there are divorces and ex spouses. However, this book took a pleasant turn of events where I found myself conflicted with whom I felt was the person to root for.

After high-school football stars were accused of rape, online vigilantes demanded that justice be served.

Reviews

Jess has a gift with plot structures and twists. I was confused as to what was going on for about the first 30% of the book, but by 40% the book was just mind-blowing twist layered upon lies layered upon story developments. I was captivated! I was actually reading Jess’s blog and she has a fascinating piece about writing twists in psychological thrillers. This book will have you in a finger-pointing frenzy, accusing pretty much anyone and everyone. Who’s telling the truth? Who’s lying? Is anyone innocent in all of this? I can’t tell you how many times I changed my mind on who to trust. (Love that!) Jordan Stephens as Sam, Tasha's friend, with whom she had a sexual relationship in the past. [3] [2] This book was well-written with some twists and turns along the way. This was an interesting and fast paced read.

I enjoy the odd Psychological Thiller as you tend to know what you are getting, so yeah you may have to suspend disbelief at some of story but I expect that with Psychological thrillers (to an extent) and this book works really well as the plot and the characters are clever and I enjoyed the suspense. The Ex Wife is a rollercoaster of a psychological thriller. It was exciting, thrilling and kept me guessing. Jordan Stephens says“I have been so fortunate to have worked with such a talented cast and crew. The Ex-Wife is a compelling thriller full of twists and turns. I can’t wait for the audience to see how this story unfolds. Expect the unexpected.”a b c d e f g Bennett, Alissa (21 April 2023). "Divorcée Fiction: On Ursula Parrott". Paris Review. This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonists being Alice Hargraves, Cassie Hargreaves, Norah Richmond and DI Belinda Day. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

After getting divorced Alice is finding it hard to work and maintain her life plus her daughter. Right when she thought Norah is all set to marry Mark, Alice learns that Norah and Mark are trying for a child and all the IVF treatments might reveal a secret about Cassie’s birth! This novel consists of 27 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case! I'm thankful that I have a Paramount+ subscription so I could watch it. If you don't, you are missing out on a show like this one. 4 words - 7 day free trial! The book was a commercial success in 1929, and it maintained its success throughout the depression era 1930s, but fell out of print. It was reissued in 1989 and now in 2023. It was originally published anonymously "to underscore the salaciousness of its material." [1] [3] Shortly after the book’s publication, the media began hunting for the author's identity, and whether the protagonist’s portrayal was actually fictional, somewhat autobiographical or was critiquing a culture undergoing tectonic shifts. [2] By August 1929, the year of this book's publication, the successful sleuthing revealed the author to be " Katherine Ursula Parrott, a journalist and fashion writer..." [2]
