Paige’s energy is all over the record. The whole band actually wrote a song on the album for Paige - it’s called Can’t Kill the Summer and I’m sure she loves it from wherever she is.

It will be an incredible evening, seeing him not on a massive stage miles away, but just a few feet from the audience. Dave and I are now joint patrons of Paige’s Musical Butterflies - a charity set up by Paige’s family to provide music therapy for ill kids. It’s a huge passion for us both.”

All I really wanted was to put a band together and make a proper, live, studio record and that’s exactly what we did. It was all about the energy in the room and our producer Chris Marshall did a phenomenal job of a getting the absolute best out of all of us. On Sunday 26 March Beattie performed 2 songs, Heart Stops Beating and Salamander Street in the centre circle at Ibrox park for the Rangers Football Club Legends match. In the second half, manager Alex McLeish selected Beattie to play on the field alongside Rangers and rest of the world legends. He played for the final ten minutes of the game.

Callum and Dave have helped make her dream of releasing a single come true with a song on the album written for Paige. We chose to take a different approach to the artwork and have used an iconic photo by a very iconic photographer called Gavin Watson. Gavin was the inspiration behind Shane Meadows’ ‘This Is England,’ and working with him was a dream come true.” Callum Beattie is a Scottish singer-songwriter signed to 3 Beat Records. He has released six singles, two EPs and his debut album People Like Us was released in May 2020.

The whole idea was to keep it small, intimate, so the RED Sky Bar is perfect – and we are doing two performances so 300 fans will get to be part of it overall. Each to their own, but I write for myself and those are the songs I want to record and release. If 22 writers have been roped in by some exec to come up with a song, that’s not something I want to put out. Collaborating and evolving songs with my band and friends is very different." On 24 February 2023 Beattie released his second album, VANDALS. The album reached number one on the national iTunes chart, beating Gorillaz, Pink and Adam Lambert. VANDALS went straight to number one on the Scottish album charts. The first single from the album Heart Stops Beating stayed in the Bauer Radio playlist for ten months. My manager Dave made it all happen – he asked what I wanted and took away all the stuff that can get in the way, he created the perfect environment and mood for me. He’s a huge part of it all. The teenager passed away from a rare form of cancer but Callum and Dave did make her dream of releasing a single come true and are now heavily involved in the music therapy charity she inspired. RED Glasgow’s iconic RED Sky Bar on Thursday, which sold out in seconds. Vandals is available now on all platforms. Beattie grew up in Musselburgh, East Lothian [2] and released his first single "We Are Stars" in 2017. In 2019, he uploaded the anti- Brexit and Conservative Party song "Boris Song" onto YouTube, becoming viral. [3] The album is tinged with tragedy, as it was inspired by and is dedicated to Callum’s friend Paige Dougall.

Far and away the most complete collection of songs the singer-songwriter has written, Vandals is a chronicle to his life, love and heartbreak which showcases not only his writing but that devastating voice, which seems to grow richer with every show. Dave and I were managing her and had put out her single with Ella Henderson. She died of Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. To say she had a massive impact on this record would be an understatement. He said: “I think it’s the first time I’ve actually made any music that’s this close to who I am. It’s also made me certain that this is how I will want to make future records too. If 22 writers have been roped in by some exec to come up with a song, that’s not something I want to put out. Collaborating and evolving songs with my band and friends is very different.” Because Callum Beattie is entirely his own man, and determined to blaze his own trail, following in no-one’s footsteps.I’m over the moon with the results, as I wanted to get away from the sausage factory style that seems to have become commonplace in the industry nowadays. He’s not the next Paolo. He’s not the next Lewis Capaldi. He’s not the next Gerry Cinnamon. He’s not the next anyone.
