I have mixed feelings about the book. The story of creation is beautifully written, but it you're a biblical purist shifting the blame for the fall from Eve to Adam may be unsettling. The description of the island and the healing of the girl are fascinating. I wish we had more than a few glimpses of this unusual place. The other problem I had with the story stems from the blurb that made me select the book. It said the girl was special because her DNA connects her to every human. I was disappointed that this was not pursued in the book. I should have the first draft of this book ready for your perusal sometime in the next few years or so, so please book me into a meeting with the art department sometime around then. I look forward to working with you to make this next book a huge success. As the story opens the moon explodes into a number of big chunks for reasons that are unclear, though most likely it was hit by some space object. Now, let’s say you wake up one morning, and ”THE MOON BLEW UP WITHOUT WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON.” For the first two sections alone, I would consider this book to be a new favourite. Yet I found the last section less interesting. I appreciated that the author wanted to explore anthropological ramifications of the genetic work, but the narrative style just was not too my tastes.Neoanders: Designed to counter the strengths of Teklans, Neoanders possess both the physical prowess and intellectual cunning of several of the other human races. Neoander DNA was sequenced with remnants of Neanderthal DNA from Aïda and the sequence from a Neanderthalian toe. So much is bright and colorful about it, and I'm including the different human races, the flying, the landscape, and the revelations about what the people find down there. No spoilers, but suffice to say there's always a way to bring conflict in, even though the future is hopeful. It was a sheer pleasure to explore, and if the novel was NOT an extension of the first 2/3, I'm pretty sure that most of the haters out there would have thought it was an interesting tale on par with any of the classics. It's all about survival, rebuilding and restoring, genetic engineering, massive scale engineering, and the supremely toned-down idea that love endures. The first book is a very much on-trend apocalyptic-event novel. An enigmatic something causes the moon to blow apart into 7 huge chunks. Since Neal Stephenson covered it at the talk I saw him give recently, I'm going to say he doesn't think it'd be too much of a spoiler to reveal that those seven chunks are soon predicted to keep banging up against each other in orbit until they eventually become a devastating hail of meteorites that are going to transform the Earth into a very, very unpleasant place to be for the foreseeable future. This outstanding text offers an unusual introduction to matrix theory at the undergraduate level. Unlike most texts dealing with the topic, which tend to remain on an abstract level, Dr. Eves' book employs a concrete elementary approach, avoiding abstraction until the final chapter. This practical method renders the text especially accessible to students of physics, engineering, business and the social sciences, as well as math majors. TV folk sometimes see ultra-fans of TV drama as weird and cranky, but for many young people living difficult and isolated lives, a show such as Killing Eve can be a lifeline. And I know that no TV writers can take her away because she’s ours – all of ours – and thanks to your books and our love she will live on forever.” But it´s just something for enthusiasts and sci-fi prone persons, others could theoretically skim and scan some passages to accelerate if the topic doesn´t interest them, but that wouldn´t really make much sense, because the fusion of the technical and social aspects is what makes this work so interesting. And one has to honor Stephenson for making it a far not as complex, closer to normal novel, read, in contrast to his other sophisticated behemoths including different sciences, theories, genres, and ideas that make reading it both so fascinating and exhausting.

The Daughters of Foxcote Manor” is the third stand alone novel and was released in 2020. Outside an isolated manor house in an idyllic wood, one baby girl is discovered. Interesting, and extremely entertaining book. (Or, should I say, 'two books'? Because it really is two totally separate novels.) My one and only complaint, and the reason for my 4 star review instead of 5 is because I'm not 100% sold on the way the author placed the heavy blame of man's fall from grace on Adam as opposed to Eve. Perhaps I have misunderstood, but I was always lead to believe that Eve first tempted Adam- not the other way around.All of this is problematic, as well as the fact that the writing is done badly. It is verbose, tedious, and tautological (see what I did there). I KNOW that Young can write better, which just made this more disappointing. During the healing process, the young woman experiences the story of creation in the presence of Mother Eve. It's beautifully told and although the young woman feels unworthy to be a witness, she loves the experience. But the complexities and unpredictability of human nature coupled with unforeseen challenges and dangers threaten the intrepid pioneers, until only a handful of survivors remain . . .
