The Gigcaster 5's streamlined approach is ideal for users that don't require physical effect pads or the extra three channels, however, if you're searching for that advanced functionality, consider the Gigcaster 8's upgraded feature set. Specifications Bottom line, I'm really surprised Boss missed the opportunity with this and question if it should carry the Boss name. Do I love it? Yes, I kept it. I still recommend it for solo singing guitarists.

The screen is not very touch sensitive. Dragging a control on the screen often has no effect. Many times, pressing a button on the screen doesn't respond, requiring that you try again and again. As far as the vocal effects, it too took some time to get it just right but it was worth the time because all I need now is this one, small box. I love it.

All in all, the Gigcaster 8 is a hugely full-featured and very well thought out device that's perfect not just for streamers, but also for content creators, video professionals, online guitar teachers, podcasters… you name it. Perhaps my only criticism is that the name "audio streaming mixer" doesn't come close to describing the capabilities of this unit. It's fantastic, and I will most certainly be adding one to my streaming setup.It has guitar effects built-in so there's no need to bring any of those with me any longer. It took time to dial it in but I now love the patches I've created. I play mostly clean, sometimes with a light overdrive, but I like a clean sound. I worked for weeks trying to get a good acoustic sound but wasn't able to, then suddenly, a couple days ago, I found the secret to it and it sounds great. My clean sound and this acoustic sound is used for 95% of my songs.
