Turning the light around so the light shines up against the tent ceiling and then reflects down will give great results. Too bright of a light will mean small mushroom fruits. Reflected light should give a mushroom height of around 5-7″. Stages 1 & 2 can be done in lots of different spaces and just require some basic equipment such as a compost tumbler, workbench, shelving and a few conditions like being able to clean easily and, in the case of the incubation space, to be easily kept at around 20-24C. Unless you want to spend a lot of time squirting spray bottles, you’ll want to install a humidifier on a timer (too much humidity is also bad). Conceivably, you could put the humidifier inside the tent, but then you wouldn’t have any fresh air exchange, and the humidity levels might differ from the top to the bottom of the tent. Attaching a humidifier to the tent by two different tubes (this means cutting holes in the tent and then ceiling the holes around the tubes to prevent leakage) brings in fresh air with the humidity and ensures even humidity throughout. Incubation Fungi need a little light to fruit—that’s how they know where the outside of the substrate is.
