Ramée, Jordan (5 June 2023). "RoboCop: Rogue City Captures The Vibe Of The Movies And Benefits From RPG-Inspired Gameplay". GameSpot . Retrieved 27 August 2023. It makes for a unique-feeling shooter - a game that can often feel very basic, tired, repetitive and old-hat, chiefly because it is all of these things - 100%. It's all very dated and has no real surprises up its sleeve; it's got weird uncanny valley NPCs, linear missions, a bunch of very run-of-the-mill guns and some of the worst grenades in the grenade business. If you don't care about RoboCop. If you are a fan though, there's something more here. There's immaculate recreations of some of the movie's most famous locations, lots of old characters make cameos, Peter Weller reprises his iconic role (enough to sell the most ardent fans) and the writing is absolutely on the money.

This game faithfully brings to life the 1980s-styled, retro-future aesthetic of the RoboCop movies. (Image credit: Windows Central / Nacon)Teyon’s FPS adaptation of the part man, part machine, all cop is an extremely faithful, yet somewhat flawed, extension of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 cult classic.

The crime-riddled city of Old Detroit, recreated in videogame form. (Image credit: Windows Centra / Nacon) It may not be one of the best Xbox games, but I can say without a doubt it is the best RoboCop game ever made. If you’re a RoboCop fan who grew up watching the movies during the 1980s and 1990s, this is a nostalgic thrill ride you should not miss. As a shooter, Rogue City succeeds in making you feel like RoboCop. You move slowly and inexorably through locations, relying on RoboCop's armour to absorb the huge amount of gunfire coming your way. Alongside his Auto-9 sidearm, RoboCop can wield the many weapons dropped by enemies, which range from 9mm pistols all the way up to grenade launchers. But the Auto-9 is by far the most fun and effective weapon to use in most situations, not least because you can give it some ridiculously powerful upgrades, like an ammo autofeeder that removes the need to reload. This can make Rogue City a bit of a one-gun shooter, but I never grew tired of using that gun.Selected items are only available for delivery via the Royal Mail 48® service and other items are available for delivery using this service for a charge. It’s so far, so faithful for Teyon’s adaptation then. However, where Rogue City can stumble slightly is in its presentation and mission design. Because as excellently rendered locations like downtown, the Detroit Police Department station and even a simple quarry can look, pulling me out of the experience was the extremely poor facial expressions and lip-synching of NPCs. This is less so the case for recognisable movie characters, true, but it really becomes an issue when the story heats up. Stewart, Marcus (24 August 2023). RoboCop: Rogue City Review - IGN

Play as Robocop, and armed with your formidable Auto-9 and a selection of over 20 other lethal weapons, embark on an explosive first-person adventure to wipe out the criminal underworld. a b Leri, Michael (5 June 2023). "RoboCop: Rogue City Dev Talks About Nailing the Signature Tone & the Game's Morality System". GameRevolution . Retrieved 27 August 2023. At the same time, this isn’t the most technically impressive game when held up next to the flashy big-budget adventures we’re regularly treated to these days. Textures are kind of flat and lighting effects are minimalistic, plus a lot of the gang members’ voices are extremely similar to one another, but there’s something B-movie quality that makes it more forgivable, if not a bit charming. Still, another coat of polish would have gone a long way, especially in cutscenes where all of those issues are more apparent in close-ups. More than once I had audio and video get out of sync, had frozen faces accompany dialogue, and had total game crashes on two occasions. I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR The player is given various side quests throughout the game and can choose how to solve them, for example by selecting between different dialogue options. [2] [5] The outcome of these quests varies depending on the player's choices. For instance, the player can choose between using violence or a peaceful approach when seeking information from suspects. [2] [6] [7] The overall storyline and ending are also altered depending on decisions made by the player. RoboCop's public trust score can be built up by interacting with citizens, also affecting gameplay. [2] [8] RoboCop: Rogue City features an original storyline based on the first three RoboCop films. The game is being developed by Teyon, and is published by Nacon in partnership with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which holds the rights to the franchise. [11] The three companies worked together to ensure it is faithful to the films; [12] the development team watched them multiple times to incorporate their satirical aspect, especially that of the first film. [8]If you’ve never seen the RoboCop movies before and are a casual fan of first-person shooters, RoboCop: Rogue City is still a fun title that stands on its own merits and is worth your time if you can look past its minor flaws. Patrol the streets of Old Detroit to quell criminal activity. (Image credit: Windows Central / Nacon) Downtown Detroit is a great example of the open-world in miniature. It's just big enough to feel like a plausible space, and has just enough stuff in it to lend value to exploration. It also makes decent use of RoboCop's eighties' vision of the future, with missions that take place in a blinking, bleeping arcade and a cramped, colourful VHS store. Many missions also let you choose what kind of RoboCop you want to be, exacting the letter of the law, or putting your faith in the public trust with a more lenient approach. As you delve into iconic locations and encounter familiar faces from the world of RoboCop, you’ll be delighted to know that Peter Weller, the original actor, lends his voice to the cybercop once more.
