Shot Suggestions hints at how to fix photos using the phone’s neural processing unit (NPU). We found its real-time tips on leveling shots and framing subjects helpful, with an on-screen reticle to properly center group shots. Sure, its suggestions are at times way off, but for the most part it’s a helpful addition to the camera UI. On the front, there's a single 10-megapixel selfie camera. I don't see you losing much without the S10+'s second depth camera on the front, and you gain significantly by shrinking the hole punch on the front from a bothersome oval to a trim little circle. I can see the argument for going up to the S10 more than I can for the even costlier, bigger, heavier S10+. The S10+ is expensive and slightly unwieldy; the S10 has many of its aspects and feels more usable. If you want a big Samsung phone, wait for the Galaxy Note 10 presumably coming later this year. Video recording is handled well, especially thanks to the new super-steady stabilisation option. This uses the ultra-wide sensor to record and then crops in, smoothing out your footage and ridding it of the judder often associated with mobile video recording. But Samsung Galaxy S10’s battery life should have been better

The hole in this 'punch-hole' display is extra-large, as Samsung dropped in two front cameras to take better portrait selfies than the single-lens Galaxy S10 and S10e front cameras.Good news, we’ve not found it too distracting. The display has a few other quirks, too, all of which help to shape the look of the Galaxy S10. The first is the new Infinity-O display, which is Samsung’s effort to steer away from the plight of a notch. Instead of a dip in the display, as seen on the iPhone XS, the S10 moves its front camera into a circular cutout that sits towards the top-right of the panel. Unlike the notch, the screen flows around the camera, creating a more seamless finish. The Galaxy S10 has a 6.1-inch, 19:9, 3,040-by-1,440-pixel screen. It's the same "dynamic AMOLED" panel as on the other S10 models, and it has the same gorgeous colors and relatively high brightness. The pixel density at maximum resolution (551ppi) is invisibly tight. In fact, the Samsung S10's 6.1-inch 19:9 Super AMOLED display panel looks better than anything Samsung sells its rivals, and it's been crowned the most color accurate smartphone display ever.

The Galaxy S10 isn’t foldable, but Samsung’s latest flagship is a worthy iPhone Xs killer

Sure, LG phones have touted ultra-wide camera lenses for years, like the LG V40, but Samsung’s cameras have been more consistent in low-light conditions. The feature is finally in a flagship-level phone you want.

With Samsung opting to use its own chipset, rather than the Qualcomm standard, there’s the worry that its latest phones might underperform when compared with its equally pricey alternatives. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case in testing, as the 2.84GHz chipset managed to hold its own not only against the Snapdragon 855, but also against Huawei’s Kirin 980 and Apple’s A12 Bionic, too.

Samsung comes very close to matching the iPhone XS score of 11,481 – outright speed has long been one advantage Apple has held over its chief rival. And storage makes the S10 Plus a wholly better value, starting at a healthy 128GB, of which around 110GB is actually available to you out of the box. If that’s not enough space, there’s a microSD slot which supports cards up to 1TB in size, or the 512GB and 1TB internal storage sizes – for an additional cost, of course. The 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display on the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus makes this the biggest S phone screen to date – bigger than 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 Plus and matching the Note 9 screen size. It's also a lot better. The Galaxy S10 also does a better job at levelling out exposure, with the Huawei P30’s automatic shooting mode generally overexposing images a bit too much. The HDR mode also does a fantastic job of lifting up the shadows and softening brighter areas of the image.
