On simpler songs, the texture and resolution are quite impressive for the price but when the low end comes in, it does weaken the details pulling the bite on some instruments. What it does not limit is the vocal region letting it sing confidently in the mix. Timbre LetShuoer (aka Shuoer) is a Chinese company located in Dongguan, Guangdong, China and is specialized in design and development of portable audio equipment’s such like Universal & Custom In-Ear Monitors and USB DAC/Amplifier (DT-02). The S12 PRO is resolving, crystal clear and transparent in the mid-range with a natural voicing that is combined with the already excellent bass performance to make for an immersive and realistic listening experience perfectly suitable for classical music and not only.

Shuoer S12 - Reddit My thoughts on the planar FOTM - the Shuoer S12 - Reddit

Mid - that's where most of the issues come from; mids are very much recessed and thin sounding, without a proper body, synthetic. Male vocals are usually too quiet and dark. I also spotted a place in Mozart's Violin Concerto no. 4 where the soloist plays arpeggios from the G string up to the E string - the dynamics in the recording and in the score remain the same throughout the passage, yet S12 makes them variable (G string being the weakest and darkest, E being overly bright and louder). I'm a violinist and believe me, this 'Leduc' Guarneri is PERFECTLY balanced. It's such a shame how much the S12 interferes with the perfomer's intentions. The rounded shape perfectly filled my ears, and when paired with the right tips, the S12 Pro gave me a very nice experience. To be fair, they aren’t as cozy as a semi-custom fit could be, but I’d still rate them a solid 8 out of 10 in this aspect and I’d place them above all the other models I’ve reviewed this year Isolation Starting off the replay is amazingly interactive. Planar IEMs have a transient ability normally much better than their similarly priced (non-planar) competitors. The frequency response while forming a subtle V shape, both sectors of treble and bass were shown to be dominant. This would have you question the style of midrange abilities. The vocals, both male and female structures are slightly recessed into the mix, yet this tune, this S12 PRO ends up at the very top 1st place or 2nd place spot in my Planar list containing a total of 8 different planar contestants. Yep, I love this one, I really do. Why? Partially due to fit! Yep, I’m taking about fit-form-factor in the sound section……..you know why? Fit creates better sound! That’s a start. Next the bass. The next level goes when you place the IEMs into your hands. Yep, they are one of the most amazingly built examples of the CNC art today. Simply look at the fit and finish! Try to see where the shells fit together? Look closely at the seam and you tell me if you have ever seen anything like the S12 PRO. Now obviously build would mean nothing if these didn’t sound good, but again, here is an example of a carefully thought out product which offers down-to-earth value. There is plenty of harmonic wealth and realism, the timbre is natural and colorful with great chromatic variety, you can hear the uniqueness of every singer's voice and single instrument. Behind the (strange) name, two senior engineer: Danny To, ex engineer for Panasonic and sales director of a multinational technology company, and Jeff Wong, ex-head of Dah Chong Hong Group and Department director of ZhongSheng Group. Big heads, frustrated not to get their ideal sound, who decided to open up a company and create their own products – you know the drill. The lower treble region is slightly less highlighted compared to the upper treble. Woodwind instruments such like a side flute or clarinet are fairly pronounced and clear, while pianos are shown with a pretty good grade of intensity. To my ears, the bass boost on the Shanling M7 and Shanling UA3 gave the S12 Pros a subtle but welcome bass lift. I noticed the slightly subdued bass on the BTR7, but beautifully rendered treble, which required a change of tips and a bit more volume for more bass. It is worth remembering that you get the best out of the S12 Pros with more power. Blanket statements declaring that Planar magnetic sets do not pair well with tube amps is a gross generalisation. The S12 Pro will be compared against some other mid-FI planars. Single DD, hybrids, and pure BA IEMs were excluded from the comparison as the different transducer types have their own pros and cons. Let’s start the PLANARy session to see which planar set is king! Vs. LETSHUOER S12

S12 Pro Review - Major HiFi Letshuoer S12 Pro Review - Major HiFi

Hz Timeless - To my ears, the 7 Hz Timeless have not grabbed my attention as much they did others, I still believe they are good and demonstrate good use of Planar Magnetic drivers, but for melodic presentation, they did not grab my attention.Despite the vents, i solation is actually above average, and these would make for a good commuting pair of IEMs. Comfort On the front (faceplate) is a relative clean surface that has a slightly protrudes area, which is part of the 2-Pin connector interface. The midrange of both IEM’s does offer a good level of transparent and airiness, while the midrange of the LetShuoer S12 is a bit more upfront when I do listen to vocals and instruments. At the rear surface of the monitors is a slightly angled sound nozzles and one of the two vent holes drilled to the side of the unit to reduce pressure against the ear drums to protect the users hearing. The sound nozzle has fine metal mesh/filter on the top to prevent the insertion of small particles such like dust or ear-wax that can damage the driver overtime. The selection of tips makes it easy to find a comfortable fit. It comes with three sets of silicone ear tips (small, medium, large) in softer and firmer silicone. There are also three pairs of foam ear tips for better isolation.
