About this deal

At the end of this teardown speedrun, we’re actually pleasantly surprised. Based on this small sample of the market, we’re pretty confident in saying that some of these popular earbuds are somewhat possible to repair, but only if you’ve got the patience to work in very tight spaces, and potentially some soldering skills—which is better than we expected after our first couple AirPods teardowns. One of the best aspects of the set’s design is the fact the earbuds are rain-, sweat-, and waterproof. Yes, the IPX7-graded buds are officially waterproof, not water-resistant! You can submerge them up to one meter for half an hour without issues. Sound quality

Apart from this, the set also comes with four sets of ear tips and ear wings for you to fine-tune your fit. As such, we found these buds very enjoyable to wear while relaxing, walking, running, and exercising, too. Buds themselves can hold up to 3.5 hours of battery life, with the charging case adding an extra 19 hours (24 in total). In our test, we got around 5 hours out of them. This is a better battery life than expected but still somewhat average compared to the competition. Thankfully the case isn’t too big: you can easily take it with you. A lot of work has gone into optimising the upgraded Liberty Neo's, and it shows. The ergonomic fit is a result of extensive testing on multiple users. And, the balanced, clear sound is a product of the finely tuned graphene drivers.Apart from all this, we appreciate the earbuds' amped-up bass and the fact the set is IPX7 waterproof. In fact, they’re resistant to sweat, rain, and water, making it an excellent choice for active and outdoorsy folks, too! What we don’t like about Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo: You can expect to have basic controls like answering calls, skipping and pausing music, but sadly no volume controls. You have to use your phone to change that. As is the norm for economical headsets, the Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo only supports AAC and SBC. Android users looking for reliable, high-quality Bluetooth codecs should turn their ears toward the company’s more premium Liberty Air 2 Pro model. You’re unlikely to notice any difference in codec quality when out and about in a noisy environment, but if you crank the volume up, you may run into some compression artifacts that can make your music sound bad. How do you pair the Soundcore Liberty Neo? Each earbud has a small LED light that flashes in red or white color. It usually blinks white when pairing and when they’re on standby mode. When you’re using them, the blinking stops. Once it comes to the call quality, it’s no so good and spotty preferably you are in a place noisy. Maybe your voice is muffled and the ambient sound is louder than your voice. However; if you are in the house or in a place free from noise. The call sound quality is quite clear. All in all, the Anker Soundcore Life A1 is not ideal for people who use wireless earbuds for calls regularly. Sound Quality Of Anker Life A1

This is quite fair for their price point, and even though they don’t have aptX, they still perform well in terms of video delay on Android devices. Is Video Delay a Problem? We also wouldn’t advise using them during extremely vigorous exercise or swimming, either. Depending on how well they fit you, they may or may not fall out. So, play it by ear and see how comfortable you feel wearing them during these activities before you lose one.

Wireless Earbuds, Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo, Premium Sound

The earbuds are equipped with long battery life. Soundcore by Anker Life A1 earbuds can operate for 9 hours on a single charge. On top of that, it offers 35 hours of complete playtime through the case. Outdoor runners will be pleased to hear the Liberty Neo generally offer a wonderfully stable connection. The only time I suffered regular dropouts was when moving through busy signal areas – train and underground stations, for example. We also found it inconvenient that you can’t adjust the volume directly with the device. Instead, you’ll have to use your paired smartphone to control the sounds. The difference between speaking into your phone or via Liberty Neo is very minimal. There is a little bit of muddiness, but overall these true wireless earbuds are good for phone calls. Unlike many affordable earphones, the Liberty Neo comes with a diverse number of silicon tip and wing options. The wing options are a rarity on buds at this price and make it possible to get a good seal. The wings, plus the buds’ IPX5 sweat-proofing makes them a great-value option for gym-goers and runners looking for an affordable alternative to the Jaybird Vista.

Is the Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo easy to use?

The 33% cheaper Satily Store Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds come in a slim case, provide noise reduction, they're waterproof — and look similar to the popular Apple Airpods. If we talk about the case, it comes with fast charging feature. In addition, it allows you to recharge the charging case in two ways. The main way is to recharge with the standard method via a USB cable. Apart from that, the charging case also supports wireless charging.

Pairing for the first time is also a breeze. All you have to do is to put both earbuds out of the case. This initiates the pairing mode, which makes them visible in your phone’s Bluetooth search menu. The custom Graphene drivers offer decent enough tonal balance. Listening to orchestral arrangements the highs, mids and lows are suitably separated and offer enough detail for casual listening. Stereo image is non-existent, but what do you expect at this price? I’m extremely meticulous when it comes to the headphones’ sound quality. And I’m not disappointed in terms of the sound quality. The Anker Life A1 is the best-sounding economical earbuds. It provides three custom sound modes. Though not as good as some premium earbuds, it's still quite a spectacular set for this price. The boosted bass and clarity it offers are all that a casual music listener really needs.

Our Verdict

If you’re looking for affordable replacement buds or an upgrade from your cheap earphones, then these are an excellent option. They offer the quality, sound, and features you need or may not yet have experienced. You’ll enjoy using them to casually listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks and other audio content. However, the audio completely cuts after the second wall. But at that point, you are probably on the other side of the house, so the connection stability is on par with the competition. The lid of the case doesn’t open all the way up and could be the first thing to break if you use too much force. Can You Connect to 2 Devices at the Same Time (Multipoint)? If you opt for the ear fins instead of pushing the buds deeper into your ears, you essentially trade an inward pressure for an outward pressure, as the fins tend to tug out a bit on your ears. Either way, we generally found ourselves wanting to take these buds out within an hour of putting them in. Undoubtedly one of the best features of this set of earbuds is its price. The set comes with a pair of buds, a charging case, and a charging cable, as well as four ear tips and four ear wings. You’ll feel as if you got your money’s worth from the Neos, plus a little extra! The Liberty Neo is the cheapest TWS within Soundcore's lineup, but it still sounds good for the price. It's just... that music is a bit dry.
