Controls for the OSD consist of four unmarked buttons – press any button, and a menu pops up telling you what each one is for, depending on menu context. The extra resolution may not sound like much, but it’s like getting the space taken up by Google Chrome’s menu bar and the Start menu back, which is a significant amount of extra space. U2412M now comes in two color variants; black and silver; and the new design feels a bit cheaper but all in all it is almost identical and the same ergonomic adjustability options are available.

If you're using DVI connection, ensure that a Dual Link DVI cable is used (Supplied together with the monitor). You can only run the built-in diagnostics when the video cable is unplugged and the monitor is in self-test mode. U2410 has marginally better color gradation in the semi-dark areas but on the other hand U2412M distinguishes the darkest grey tones better.

For most users it does not really matter but more for advanced users I think U2410 is a better choice. Some presets allow adjustment of Hue and Saturation, while others don’t, and strangely the colour temperature setting is one of the presets, even though it applies its changes no matter which other preset you’ve chosen.
