Antiques play a significant role in Matthew’s interior design projects, allowing personality, uniqueness and charm to flood the space, especially when paired with contemporary wallcoverings or artworks. His collaboration with Roome London, which launched in spring 2021, comprises a collection of exquisitely manufactured furniture featuring graphic and colourful patterns and visuals. His first collection, Electric Angels, debuted during London Fashion Week the following year with Kate Moss, Helena Christiansen and Jade Jagger all taking to the catwalk.

Starting in September 2003, the company began collaborating with Coca-Cola on applying Matthew Williamson prints onto the iconic glass bottles. Within the first few years of his interior design career, Matthew was commissioned by iconic hotel Blakes to design their summer courtyard.

His education and passion for design bubbled to a head in 1994 when he graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA Hons 2:1 in Fashion and Textile Design. Using beautiful stationery goes beyond the thrill of feeling blissfully organised each January, a new diary, note cards and pens in tow.

He has since re-designed the courtyard to form a permanent, lush oasis at the hotel in South Kensington, London. All of my rooms at home are filled with interesting lights, and I use them to create little pockets of warmth to give a sense of intrigue to each and every corner. So he started designing homewares (pieces from his current collection with John Lewis, like two glamorous palm-tree lamps, are scattered around his home) and then homes too, arriving at hotels and houses with his 20 questions, and an eye for colour, and a gentle air of curiosity.
