Higher-end options from the S-series (S4 Max, S5 Max, S6 MaxV) to the S7 and S7 MaxV series all use LIDAR and SLAM. High-airflow options, the Roomba 980 and S9, separate themselves from the pack since these options have the best airflow, thus, picked up more sand in the deep cleaning experiment. There’s no digital mapping, but during our tests that didn’t seem to effect cleaning performance as much. Underneath, the E4 retains the same layout, with the main brush sitting between the two rubber wheels and a single side brush. If your goal is to purchase a good robot vacuum that's especially good at keeping pet hair and fur managed on a tight budget, then the Roborock E4 is an excellent option.If you live in a big house with both bare floors and carpets and need better mopping with some extra smart features, go with the Roborock S5 Max.
