About this deal

Everyone couldn’t have been more welcoming and I feel very lucky to be able to take advice from his band who have worked with him for so many years and know him and his music so well. I haven’t played piano in quite a while and wouldn’t say I’m amazing but can play well enough to accompany myself.

The tape has been consigned from music and PR man, Jonathan Rowlands, who at the time was managing Rod Stewart. It's a shame how a band of such potential and capabilities as the Faces ended up with such a short career together.

Stewart's growing disinterest with the band, due to his newfound solo popularity, was one of the main reasons things had escalated between them, with members Lane, McLagan, and Jones being tired of staying behind the vocalist's shadow, being seen merely as his backing group. Harmonic Melbourne siblings DACY opened the show last night and again tonight and went down well with the Rod crowd. Mr Rowlands, who also worked with the likes of Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson, Tim Rose and film actor Jimmy Stewart amongst many others. Martin Millard, Director, Cheffins says: “With over 120 million records sold worldwide, Sir Rod Stewart is undoubtedly one of the most famous British rock legends of all time.

Rod told the Mirror this week that Penny will be on duty as a special constable with the City of London Police for the King’s Coronation concert in May but he will still be in Las Vegas as part of his residency at Caesars Palace.I would say I was always inspired by the female divas and found myself trying to belt like Whitney, Mariah and Celine Dion from a very young age. Later that year she won the Melody Maker Award for best female vocalist for her record with Chicken Shack. Speaking to SMILER last Friday Emily said “My mum and I are huge fans of his and are going to his concert tomorrow in Brisbane Australia and this year I am painting outfits for every concert I go to, so I thought why not? Starting off things is "You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything", the final single the band released while they were together in November 1974. The tapes are sold along with photocopies of Jonathan Rowlands’ 1964 appointment book, detailing his meetings with Stewart. Donald told SMILER this week “My friend Sherri (she is the one solo in picture below – the Rod-loving birthday girl) is the biggest Rod fan in the world. Stewart, obviously, was not pleased with the results, and spoke his mind about the album in a Melody Maker interview. As an addendum, we have a medley of two Rn'B covers: "Hi Heel Sneakers", by Tommy Tucker, and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love", by Solomon Burke. That enraged Lane, who had been the main force behind the album's songwriting, due to the singer's lack of commitment. However, those sessions only yielded another song, which was used as its b-side, and as they had touring commitments, they left that as-is. With heartfelt and enlightening contributions from pals and peers, including Sir Rod Stewart, Jimmy Tarbuck, Jodie Whittaker, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones, the Chasers and Olly Murs, we’ll go behind the scenes of an extraordinary career stretching from his time as a struggling comic, to Pontins Blue Coat, to national success as a stand-up, to celebrated actor and host of the nation’s favourite game shows. We’ve always been good at communicating with one another and explaining how we feel, so he got to understand.

Smiler – Rolling Stone

Featuring Jones and Wood alongside himself, as well as some carnival-like brass playing, courtesy of Chris Barber's Jazz Band. Side One has the best cuts, including a fine rendition of Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Rock 'n' Roller" and the fun Elton John romp "Let Me Be Your Car," on which the Rocket Man shares vocal duties.Patchy but still very decent and still has the flavour of the essential Gasoline Alley and Every Picture Tells A Story era. The two previous albums were of similar construction, a few originals, some judicious covers, a Dylan song, instrumental vignettes and featured the Faces again often on backing duties, but somewhere the spark doesn't quite get lit, leaving the album, rather like the poncey cover sleeve, a bit above its station. I suppose Stewart had backed himself into a creative cul-de-sac with this, the fourth album in a similar style and to be fair "Atlantic Crossing", made for an acceptable change of style and direction, but I'd sooner listen to this hit and miss set than any other full album he's made since.
