About this deal

Maybe it's more a distance thing, but I've seen some onion ringing on specular highlights that are in front of the subject, and in some of the photos here the hexagonal shape of the blades shows up. You can look forward to it as much as you want, but this lens will not cover the full frame Foveon L-Mount sensor, so, even if you adapt it, you will be left with what will likely be some monstrous vignetting.

This makes the lens a classic short-telephoto, ideal for events, weddings and portraits as well as general street photography or simply picking out details on tighter urban or natural landscapes.I believe the Sigma method involves a production line making most of the lens (for whatever fitting), and then a smaller tailored line for the rear section, electronic assemblies and mount. I'm not sure I have a preference that applies across the board, other than I like both extremes and found myself bored at 50mm (equivalent), but that might just be a comment on my inexperience. MFT samples would be better (but longer FL) due to automatic correction of distortion and reduced sensor size (less coverage by the image circle). I'd like to see Sigma offer their Contemporary Series primes in options that Fuji owners don't have - eg the 65/2 and better still the lightweight 90/2.

I would find it very interesting to keep this conversation going and maybe make a follow up post on this. There is a slight vignetting at the wider apertures, which is to be expected, and this clears by the time you reach f/4. Some mild traces of purple and green fringes of colour were still obvious in shots where the built-in lens profile was applied, so you may find yourself applying some additional manual correction, just as I did.But I’m sure they were thinking photographers would use this lens for weddings too and other such family events or even an outdoor portrait photoshoot. The Sigma excels here again, with a wonderfully soft bokeh and a nicely smooth transition between focused and defocused areas. These are designed mainly for use with Nikon’s APS-C models like the Nikon Z50, Nikon Z30 and Nikon Zfc.
