Literally made me pull a face and contemplate throwing the book across the room, but I couldn't because I read it on my phone and I like my phone. The day I meet with single dad, Jacob Broaden, about potentially matching his daughter with one of our service dogs, I learn a few valuable lessons. Ryan has come back to town to attend the wedding of a best friend and she intends to show him that she has long since ceased caring for him despite the passionate kiss they had shared after her graduation. She never once even confronts him about how he treated her, just does little soap opera comebacks that are all bark and no bite. I loved that the female lead was doing something that she was passionate about and I loved the way the author added depth to her story.

But there is one problem, Ryan is still very handsome and he was not supposed to come after her like the sexy guided missile he is.

She mentions her therapist but she never actually GOES to therapy in the book, partly because it all seems to occur over maybe a two or three week period of time. If you're tired and had a rough day and only have one functioning brain cell left to use, definitely give this a read. It’s up to her and her long-time mentor and boss to throw the fundraiser of a century to keep the doors open. Jake is reluctant to let Evie into their lives for many reasons, he’s worried about getting Sam a service dog, and worried for himself because Evie could be all too easy to fall for.

It is possible to go from fantasizing about kissing someone to wishing they would be run over by a truck in a matter of two minutes. Having worked for Southern Service Paws for a few years now, I like to think I’m prepared for just about any client meeting under the sun.
