Morrissey beseeches, as if he’s actually in a real romance with each and every one of his fans, acutely aware of the perversity and impossibility at work in pop’s psycho-dynamics of identification and projection. However, according to Street, "this didn't get in the way of recording because the atmosphere in the studio was very, very constructive. It is extremely difficult to find Smiths pressings of this quality these days- a must add now for any Smiths fan before these become scarcer and extremely valuable in 5-10 years. This is a fantastic thing to play and own, and anyone on the fence should just go for it - you won't regret it. The Queen Is Dead is the Smiths' great leap forward, taking the band to new musical and lyrical heights.

The first song from the album to be recorded, in July 1985, was "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side". Marr wrote several songs while the Smiths toured Britain in early 1985, working out arrangements with the bassist, Andy Rourke, and the drummer, Mike Joyce during soundchecks. The original album sounds great though it's not a noticeably different remaster than the one that Johnny Marr did for the "Complete" box set to my ears.

Detto questo, il materiale audio è di tutto rispetto, quello grafico gradevole ma un po' limitato: mi sarei atteso un booklet più corposo e qualche foto della band. A complex allegory about arrested development on the individual and national level, “The Queen Is Dead” starts with a sample from The L-Shaped Room, one of those British black-and-white social realist films of the early ’60s that Morrissey adores. The cleverest of the meta-pop Smiths songs of this period, though, can be found on this reissue’s second disc of B-sides and demos. Even though they’re strolling among the gravestones quoting poetry at each other to show how intensely they feel the sorrow of mortality, the life-force is strong in these precocious youngsters.

The actress had also appeared in a gala performance for the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II, entitled God Save the Queen; she died in 1980. El DVD incluye el mini-film de Derek Jarman, “The Queen Is Dead – A Film By Derek Jarman”, formado por los vídeoclips de “The queen is dead”, “There is a light that never goes out” y “Panic”, y también tiene el máster en calidad suprema de 96kHz / 24-bit PCM stereo. It’s a great musical tragedy that barely a year after releasing The Queen Is Dead, this odd couple went their separate ways, for reasons that still feel not fully explained. Marginally more robust and shiny than the last time it was remastered, this new Queen comes with a couple of extra discs and a DVD that contains a promo directed by British filmmaker Derek Jarman.

Warners will issue multi-disc deluxe editions of The Smiths‘ 1986 album The Queen Is Dead on vinyl and CD, in October this year. The additional recordings and live album are so clear that I genuinely feel like the band are in the room.

According to Marr: "The atmosphere of that track pretty much sums up the whole album and what it was like recording it. Increasingly grandiose and paranoid, the singer alleged there was a conspiracy of radio silence to suppress his profoundly serious lyrical content in favor of the trite and trivial.
