The hero who gets promoted to chief of MI6 is totally clueless, too young and too compromised to even look real. Would the Carews really risk their own staunchly Protestant position by promoting William falsely as ‘William Carew’ and hide his Catholic background? He is befriended by a poor boy, Nick Drew, and together they brave imprisonment and death as they desperately try to gain pardon for Will's father. Due to his radical regenerative body, Lanik has grown breasts, which makes him appear to be a woman. And yes, having Berlie Doherty do precisely this in Treason, it not only makes me shake my head in disbelief, it also makes me kind of wonder if the author has the Montagues be Catholic for some kind of plot device, some kind of narrative tool to move the text along and to precipitate conflict and crisis (but in a not all that believable a manner if one actually knows Tudor era British history, oh and also, well, during the reign of Henry VIII, the monarch would be addressed with "Your Grace" and not "Your Majesty" as the latter only started with the Stuarts, with James I).

I liked this book because the details the author used made the book easier for me to read, understand and to imagine the scenes in my head. Tracy Ifeachor as Dede Alexander, an agent of the CIA and a friend of Maddy investigating Adam and Kara. If you're going to read Card, which I don't highly recommend, read this and not that Ender/Alvin Maker/Homecoming crud.

In its review, The Hollywood Reporter said: “ Treason is only five episodes long and each episode is under 46 minutes, making it one of those shows in which brevity is both its best and worst quality. Let me just say this: I have NO IDEA what is so appealing about her other than she's pretty and supposedly loyal. Card has made his mark on the speculative fiction world primarily through the moral complexity of the stories he tells.

It includes unique discoveries from the archives, uncovering mysteries and stories of how dealing with treason have brought about the changes which have influenced and shaped Britain throughout the centuries. Set in the late 1530s, soon after Henry VIII declared himself Supreme Head of the Church of England, Berlie Doherty’s novel tells the story of William Montague, who arrives at Hampton Court as page to Henry’s son, the infant Prince Edward. Treason is a British television spy miniseries created by Matt Charman for the streaming service Netflix. The book covers many stories that explore the nature of treason and how the crown and state reacted to it - from the introduction of the Treason Act in 1352 right through to the twentieth century. It does seem very evidently to be one of his earlier works, but I believe that works to the story's advantage. When Adam's daughter, Ella, leaves school without her protection officer, she is followed and taken by two unknown people.
