Fifteen years ago, Kaidou-san works with an Allosaurus, which escapes and heads to the general visitors area. Suzume meets the heads of the creature care departments in Dinoland, and starts to get ready to officially get her permanent assignment. Here dinosaurs are depicted according to the most current paleontological understanding. Thus they have feathers (even large theropods, that were not necessarily feathered, as rhino's and elephants also don't have hairs) and even the way they lay down, or move about, or eat, is thoroughly researched. This is also shown by intermezzo's from the consulting paleontologist, who explains his reasoning for some depictions.

The manga takes a realistic viewpoint of the parks. It does show a dinosaur eating a deer carcass, fair warning. You watch dinosaurs hatch from eggs and be treated for medical conditions and everything felt plausible. Our protagonist, Suma Suzume, and her fellow zookeepers find themselves dealing the struggles of keeping their failing dinosaur zoo in good shape and making a profit while also making sure the dinosaurs themselves are well-cared for. The struggles our characters face are very similar to what real-life zookeepers must face when working at zoos and theme parks such as SeaWorld. Suma Suzume says how since the incident, there was a huge gap between humans and dinosaurs, and she wants to bridge that gap.
