Description

Next Station: London is a one to four player flip and write in which players will be redesigning London’s underground rail network. Optimisation and efficiency is key to creating a streamlined yet effective network which traverses London to visit the sights and uses the tunnels that pass under the River Thames. It has been an interesting year of roll-and-write (RNW) and flip-and-write (FNW) games. Dinosaur Island Rawr ‘N Write is probably my favorite game in this category, although Railroad Ink: Deep Blue Edition is the people’s choice here at home. Twilight Inscription? Disaster. How do these routes emerge you ask? Well, there are five pink cards with various station symbols, as well as six blue cards that feature various symbols and one junction. These are shuffled and drawn one by one, until a fifth pink card is drawn. As such, rounds with a specific-colored pencil may last from five to ten turns. Players draw a line from their starting station to an adjacent symbol that matches the drawn card. Thankfully there is a wild card of each color that assists in moments where you need a certain symbol to proceed. Teaching the basics with my score of 101. Not showing the competition’s scores as I don’t want to embarrass them.

When drawing a section, you must follow the dotted lines printed on the map. You may not connect two stations that are not connected with a dotted line. Most of the cards show a station type (shape), and you could draw a line from any end of your current line to a station of matching shape to that on the card. You are not obligated to draw a line if you do not want to. You must follow the grey line possibilities on your sheet. You cannot cross through a previously written line nor can you return to a station already on the current line (i.e. don’t make a loop). You can choose not to draw a new section based on the newest card. If it is not possible to add a new section or you don’t want to, you can ignore the card that was just revealed. HOW TO PLAY: Next Station London is a flip and draw game using connections, line drawing and route building mechanics. In this game the city of London has commissioned you to redesign its underground network. You will need to optimize connections, serve as many sights as possible and exploit the tunnels that pass under the Thames while being careful to respect the specifications set by the city.To use a very British expression, I thought Next Station – London would be my cup of tea. I do like a roll and flip and write. Yet I was still surprised and impressed with the game inside this little box. I can see this being taken travelling with us a lot and hitting the table as a little warm up or filler game regularly. Archived copy" (PDF). Archived from the original (PDF) on 28 February 2008 . Add either Shared Objective cards or Pencil Power cards into the mix, or even play with both sets of cards! It’s a shame that this game didn’t come with different maps to try. The variability would be a nice addition. Also, while the colored pencil powers are certainly fun (wish there were a couple more options), the shared objectives module is not as great. The objectives are pretty easy to achieve and we’ve not felt that they’ve added much to our sessions with everyone scoring the same for them. It must also be noted that the final interchange scoring can be unnecessarily difficult as you scan through the map to find them. Final Thoughts:

First total the points you earned from each of your four Underground lines. You will write the total in the far right pink square on your score sheet. Prince Arthur: A charming pub located near Euston station, the Prince Arthur offers a warm and inviting atmosphere to visitors. This traditional English pub is known for its friendly staff, cozy interiors, and relaxed ambiance, making it a popular spot for locals and travelers alike. The pub boasts a wide selection of well-kept ales, lagers, and craft beers, ensuring there’s something to suit every taste. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a refreshing pint with friends, engage in lively conversation, or simply unwind after a busy day, Prince Arthur provides a comfortable setting to do so. With its convenient location near Euston, it serves as an ideal stop for a drink before catching a train or as a meeting point to start an evening out.Interchange station points (interchanges that connect different colors: 2 points per interchange connecting 2 lines, 5 points per interchange connecting 3 lines, 9 points per interchange connecting all 4 lines).
