It’s these thoughtful details that make a ride with the Bee not just a trip, but a well-organized and stress-free outing. Ease of Assembly and Versatility Many budget trailers have low-quality 16″ tires on plastic rims. 16″ tires, in general, are a disadvantage because safety precautions recommend a maximum of just 10 MPH. 20″ wheels, on the other hand, usually have a recommended maximum of 15 MPH. If you want to ride fast or cover long distances, 16″ wheels are not your best bet.

Our kids are used to this. We’ve been hauling them around in the active parents’ bike trailer of choice, a Thule Chariot. The Chariot has different iterations at different price points, but each iteration can be modified for jogging, biking, or cross-country skiing. For example, the Burley Bee comes with a tow arm that is compatible with most bikes, making it easier for your kids to ride. Unless you live local the downside is you won't be able to ride on your daily routes if you're planning to commute and they're only likely to have one make/model to choose from. The shoulder straps are height adjustable and we appreciate that they simply slide up or down and you don’t have to re-thread them thru the seat as your child grows like some trailers we’ve tested. I’ve spent countless hours on the road with bike trailers, and when it comes to safety, the Burley Bee sets a high bar.

The Burley Bee truly stands out from other trailers in its class and is definitely worth your consideration. How does the Burley Bee handle weather conditions? The Honey Bee also has a brake which the Bee does not. A brake is more important for strolling than biking, but can still be nice for use in trailer mode when stopped on a hill. The bee is also versatile. It comes standard with a single pushchair wheel and can be used as a pushchair. This feature is a big plus for families looking for a bike trailer that offers more than just towing. Burley Bee vs Other Trailers: A Clear Winner Compared to cheaper trailers like the Instep or Retrospec…..well there is no competition. Compared to Cheaper Trailers To put things into context, we wore out two cheap trailers during the three or so years we were using them on the daily commute.Plus, the addition of a safety flag is a great touch, making the trailer stand out even from a distance. Ensuring your child’s comfort is no small feat. The experience of our young riders can make or break the journey, and this is where the Burley Bee shines brightly. At 31 inches across, it’s narrow enough to fit through our front door—just barely—and at 24.7 pounds, it’s lighter than our Chariot Cheetah, which weighs 26.5 pounds. It comfortably fits my two kids, but it’s worth noting that its total capacity is only 100 pounds. I'm probably only going to be able to carry both children in it for another year or so. Finally, and perhaps most important, I found the Honey Bee really easy to fold up and down. But the Bee was a struggle fest for me. Bee vs Higher End Burley Trailers
