The Shadow Dragon has a vehicle counterpart known as the Shadow Rider, which was added as part of the Halloween Event in 2022.The original version of Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light was released in 1990 for the Famicom by Intelligent Systems, who had previously created the military strategy game Famicom Wars. It was designed and written by series creator Shouzou Kaga, who envisioned a new type of role-playing experience unknown at the time.
