Lucy's books are published in twenty territories. THE BLUE, is currently being filmed for a major international TV series for Paramount+ and will be on screens in 2023. The Blue” was not my first introduction to Lucy Clarke. In fact, I had the pleasure of being able to read “A Single Breath” not that long ago. Both “Blue” and “Breath” clearly illustrate the author’s obvious love for the water and all things oceanic. On the release of the first look trailer today, the novel’s author Lucy Clarke said: “It’s been the most incredible experience to see my novel reimagined for the screen. I’ve loved every moment of the journey from reading early scripts to visiting the set in Thailand. The series is breathtaking: transportive, gripping, and thrilling from beginning to end. I can’t wait for viewers to fall in love with it, too!”

The show was broadcast on Paramount+ in the UK, Ireland and Canada from May 18, 2023. [6] Reception [ edit ] Rhianne Barreto as Kitty on board The Blue. NO ESCAPE also stars Jay Ryan (“It Chapter Two”), Sean Keenan (“The Power of the Dog”), Colette Dalal Tchantcho (“Domina”), Elmo Anton Stratz (“Westwall”), and Narayan David Hecter (“Riviera”) as the crew onboard The Blue. Susie Porter (“Wentworth”) and Josh McConville (“Fantasy Island”) are the Australian detectives investigating the mystery of The Blue, whilst Jake Macapagal (“Metro Manila”) is Captain Reyes from the local Filipino Police force, determined to discover what really happened on board The Blue.Paramount+ has unveiled a first-look trailer for the original UK drama series NO ESCAPE. The series, produced by New Pictures, part of All3Media, is adapted from Lucy Clarke’s best-selling novel of the same name. Filming for NO ESCAPE wrapped on location in Thailand last year, and the series will launch on Paramount+ exclusively on May 18th in the UK & Ireland, and Canada. The series will also debut exclusively on Paramount+ later this year in all international markets outside of the US where the service is available. There's death and intrigue on the yacht in No Escape. (Image credit: Paramount Plus) No Escape cast— Abigail Lawrie on playing Lana The story is narrated by Lana alternating between "then" and "now" as she recalled both past and current events that occurred before and after The Blue reportedly sank. Each crewmember understandably had their own private life stories, and some were more reluctant to share details then others. The Blue allowed crew members to escape the more unpleasant and mundane realities of life on land, in Lana's case she sought temporary escape from paternal betrayal. The sailing adventure connected these seven individuals in unforgettable intrigue, mystery that explored how fast and instant are changes from the human condition combined with the natural elements that forever impact a person's life. The story was very slow to reveal itself and although the ending was good I'm not sure it was worth the effort. The seven characters in this book were very believable and all well developed. Everyone appears to be keeping a secret and no one is truthful about why they've come to The Blue. Who can you trust? The story is told mostly through Lana's point of view after she leaves the yacht, switching between the present, and her time on the yacht. I was drawn into the story because I had to know why Lana left the yacht, and left Kitty behind.

Lucy is a passionate traveller and fresh air enthusiast. She's married to a professional windsurfer and, together with their two children, they spend their winters travelling and their summers at home by the sea. I am having a hard time deciding what to say and how to rate this book. I had a difficult time reading it and yet the story itself had so much potential. The ending was good, but it was a long time getting there. This one is between a 2 and a 3 star read, and I gave it two because for so much of the book I really wasn't enjoying reading it. The characters weren't very likable and that includes Lana. It was hard to be vested in them. You only got brief interactions with the other crew members and generally not in a positive way. It made it hard to care about what happened to them.

Despite all that, I nearly set this book aside a couple of times and, although I finished it, I found it unsatisfying, like a sponge cake that hasn't risen properly where knowing what it could have been only deepens your disappointment. Lana and Kitty have been friends since childhood - both looking to escape home for different reasons, they set off on the trip of a lifetime. When they meet the crew of "The Blue" they slip into what seems on the surface to be an idyllic and easy going lifestyle sailing from place to place. But underlying tensions and secrets threaten the very fabric of their friendship - then tragedy strikes.

Lana and her best friend Kitty leave home looking for freedom—and that’s exactly what they find when they are invited onto The Blue, a fifty-foot yacht making its way from the Philippines to New Zealand. The crew is made up of a group of young travellers bitten by wanderlust, and it doesn’t take long for Lana and Kitty’s dream of sea-bound romance to turn into reality. It's an adventure/drama set on a boat in and around the Philippines. There is a mystery that slowly unfolds, but, that's It. No real suspense, or chills and thrills. If that sounds like your kind of story - then I highly recommend It. I've read one of Lucy Clarke's books before -Castaways- which was pretty good. I found this one to be much better, with some great writing that -at times- made me feel like I was on the boat myself. As this was written from Lana's perspective most of the characters aren't developed and fleshed out as well as I would have liked. I understand why the author chose to reveal her story this way; it just didn't really work for me. BAFTA Scotland award winner Abigail Lawrie ( Tin Star) and Rhianne Barreto ( The Outlaws) are Lana and Kitty respectively. Jay Ryan ( It Chapter Two) joins the cast as Captain of The Blue, Aaron Winbourne, whilst Sean Keenan ( The Power of the Dog) is Aaron’s younger, charming brother Denny. Jake Macapagal ( Metro Manila) is Captain Rhys from the local Filipino Police force, investigating the mysteries onboard The Blue. The UK Original Series will premiere on May 18th in the UK, Ireland, and Canada. On Paramount+, there will be No Escape.

The setting of the story had the potential to draw one in. The feeling of sailing the ocean, the freedom from the normal grind of life, the pull of the deep blue sea. The perfect setting for an adventurous life and the tragedy that occurred on a boat called The Blue.

Wish I was on a Yacht…sailing off yonder to some undisclosed location…with the beating sun on my body, and the cold refreshing aqua water swirling at my feet. Nice to dream! Sean Keenan as Dennis "Denny" Winbourne, an Australian crew member of The Blue and younger brother of Aaron. Thirdly, too much of what makes the plot work is disclosed in a confessional rush in the final chapters. I thought it was a clever and plausible plot that got buried under Lana's overwrought angst and then suffered from being disclosed as a tell rather than a show. The Blue follows two deeply bonded best friends, Lana and Kitty, on the run from the UK police. Together they find refuge on a romantic yacht called The Blue, crewed by a group of enigmatic, beautiful people who sail through South East Asia living a life of endless beaches, ocean and parties. But The Blue harbours dark secrets and when greed and lust drive the crew to make some terrible moral compromises, it leads to the death of one of their own. The paradise and escape the girls thought they had found turns into a nightmare as Lana and Kitty find themselves far from home and in terrible danger.

Auch die Auflösung enthielt mindestens einen Aspekt, der mich gestört hat und der, meiner Meinung nach, auch gar nicht nötig gewesen wäre (die Freundschaft von Kitty und Lana betreffend). No Escape is a British television series adapted by Kris Mrska from the Lucy Clarke novel The Blue. Developed by New Pictures and Viacom International Studios, the series stars Abigail Lawrie and Rhianne Barreto and is directed by Hans Herbots. The series premiered on Paramount+ in the UK, Ireland and Canada on 18 May 2023.
