It was truly amazing to learn about every process. We never knew even the cask used for maturation mattered. It was an eye-opening tour, to say the least. Nose: Grain-forward (puffed barley), lemon peel, fresh banana, airy with light fruits and mild floral perfume. A rest in the glass only intensifies the banana notes. I don’t know what banana flowers smell like, but I’d guess it’s something like this. His knowledge of the history of Royal Lochnagar and the whiskey making process was exceptional and explained very thoroughly.

We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide than Annie, who patiently explained everything and answered even the silliest questions to our satisfaction. She made the tour extra special by offering our son, who had just turned 18, a taste of one of their finest whiskies.I bought this as a birthday gift for my husband as it’s one of his favourites.
