Each line has a numerical designation, but each of these has variations based on the secret product code. You can easily type in the product code and find exactly the brush, right down to the color, that you want. But the model number will only lead to confusion and betrayal if you try too hard to try to find logic in their system. DailyClean White teeth. Gently does it. Whitens teeth in just 1 week. Feel the difference of a gentle clean with our Pressure Sensor while whitening your teeth in 1 week. If you want a good Sonicare toothbrush that will get the job done without breaking the bank, we recommend the ProtectiveClean 4300.

Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 Electric Toothbrush Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 Electric Toothbrush

This brush is intriguing because despite being discontinued, it is still one of the most expensive brushes available in the Philips line. The product tested in this clinical study was Philips Sonicare Flexare Platinum, functionally equivalent to ProtectiveClean1 This is actually the cheapest brush in the ProtectiveClean range and the one we rate as best value for money, all things considered.Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 uses our unique sonic technology which drives fluid deep between teeth along with our specially designed brush heads to gently but effectively remove plaque in-between teeth and along the gum line. Philips says that the 4300 comes with a “premium” travel case. But we found this white toothbrush coffin to be anything but premium. The plastic feels cheap and thin, and we tried so many times to put the brush handle in the box in a way so that it would not roll around, but it is impossible. There is room for two brush heads, and these snap in tight. But the handle itself just kind of rests on a little plastic depression which does not keep it in place. Look for the above symbol on replacement brush heads to ensure compatibility with the replacement reminder technology.

It offers 5 modes with no intensity options: clean, white, sensitive, gum care, and deep clean. Again, most of the modes are pretty meaningless in practice. We would pretty much always default to the clean mode for the best daily cleaning. The deep clean mode is touted by Sonicare, and gives you a 3-minute brushing session instead of the normal 2. Wow! Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 uses our unique sonic technology which drives fluid deep between teeth along with our specially designed brush heads to gently but effectively remove plaque in-between teeth and along the gum line. Simply brush with our Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 for 2 minutes twice a day for increased plaque removal for healthier teeth and gums in just 2 short weeks1. Some people complain that the brush is light and it feels cheap, but we think that the lightness is a welcome benefit of improved technology. It is noticeably lighter than previous generations of Sonicare, and this makes it less cumbersome to hold and improves the whole brushing experience. We will update you after long-term testing to see if quality is an issue, but so far it is doing fine! Brushing experience After spending several hours researching the Philips Sonicare product line up, we feel like our brains have gone through a German sausage factory. There is no easy way to describe or define the incredible mish mash of models and variations that there are in the labyrinth that is Sonicare. Stepping up to the DiamondClean Smart line will give you 5 modes each with 3 different intensities. We think that this is way more than you will use, but you do have lots of options. The travel case is excellent with a built-in USB cable for charging on the go. It is nice looking, holds the brush and two brush heads, and will keep your brush safe when you travel. The in-built pressure sensor alerts you when you are brushing too hard to ensure that you do not damage your teeth and gums. Dental Professionals recommend to replace your brush head every 3 months, however we understand it can be hard to remember when you switch brush heads and is your current brush head still okay to use? Our NEW brush head replacement reminder technology measures your usage and brushing pressure and alerts you to replace your brush head when it’s no longer performing optimally to ensure you are consistently getting the best cleaning results. All of these brushes come with the basic travel case that is not the best that Sonicare has to offer. Ours was actually kind of broken—the latch would not stay closed. We hope that we just had a dud. ExpertClean Despite its dark exterior, which we were afraid would collect toothpaste scum, the handle washes off easily and still looks new after months of use.

In addition, you get a bluetooth connection so that you can record and monitor your brushing sessions using the Sonicare app. So this is the first brush in the Sonicare line up that will give you some smart features. Some people love this brush because they claim it will last longer than the newer Sonicare brushes since the mechanism that creates the vibration is built into each new brush head. I can attest to the longevity of the brush because mine lasted for about 5 years before I finally said goodbye. The newest Sonicare brush that I bought only lasted for 2. The thing you need to be aware of is that this button also changes intensities. While this Sonicare does not come with any modes, it does allow you to shift from high intensity to low intensity with a push of the button. Two button design of Sonicare DiamondClean VS One button design of Sonicare 4300You can use just about any Sonicare line brush head with the 4300, and we tested several varieties from the 2nd series (G2, C2, W2) to the 3rd series (G3, C3, W3) and found all of them to be excellent. The Gum Care (G) brushes are considered the softer, sensitive brushes. C stands for Plaque Control and is the one for general cleaning. W stands for Whitening. A single grey button, wrapped in rubber, is well-placed and a smooth grey surface surrounds it which guides your thumb even when you are not looking. Two small LED lights are placed at the bottom of the handle including a brush head reminder which turns red when your chip-equipped brush head is worn out (more about the chip later), and a battery icon which glows green when fully charged, and starts to blink when the brush handle needs a little extra juice. When the power is really low, an amber light will come on and the toothbrush will beep 3 times. When it beeps 5 times and shuts off, it is completely out of power. It includes an accurate pressure sensor that was the most sensitive of any brush we tested. We think this feature is important to protect your gums as you brush.

Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean Model 4300 Electric

One major problem with this brush is that it doesn’t even come with a pressure sensor. It is near the top-of-the-line brush that Sonicare offers, but it is missing a basic feature that we think is pretty important. Why did Philips not include one? We don’t know, but it means we wouldn’t recommend this brush. Battery life for the DiamondClean was better than expected giving us 37 days of battery life which is well-above the advertised 2 weeks. The glass cup which doubles as an induction charger will take almost 18 hours to completely recharge the battery. It also has other features such as Goals that allow you to customize your brushing to try to improve a specific area of oral health like “Fresh Breath” or “Gum health.” We did not find these useful as we would prefer to brush twice a day for at least 2 minutes without following some app. The differences between these brushes is in the mode options and intensity control. We do not think modes and intensity controls matter that much in your daily brushing routine, which is why we recommend the 4300 with just a high and low intensity setting, but if you are interested in more modes then you can pay a bit more for the 4500, 5100, or 6100. 4300The lower intensity setting would be good for new users of the brush or those with sensitive teeth; although it does come equipped with a 2-week break-in period which slowly increases the intensity automatically to help new sonic users get used to the vibrations. We disabled this feature (instructions are in the user manual) as all of us had been using electric toothbrushes before. The ProtectiveClean 4300 is one of the simplest brushes to use. It has only one button that turns it off and on. The button is well-placed and is very comfortable to push. We like the rubberized cover which also ensures that it is waterproof and will not collect grime. These brushes all come with pressure sensors to let you know if you are pushing too hard, and this helps protect your gums from over brushing. When you do push too hard, the brush will buzz and the vibrations will ease up letting you know. All of these DiamondClean Smarts offer everything the 7100 has in a beautiful satin-finish like the DiamondClean. They give you 5 modes to choose from with 3 intensities for a grand total of 15 options when you brush, which is more than anyone needs. Quadpacer & Smart-timer - Quadpacer alerts you when to move on to each section of your mouth while our Smartimer signals when your total time is up.
