About this deal

On Thursday October 11 2018 an anniversary passed quietly that deserved to be shouted from the rooftop of the new stadium dominating the N17 skyline. It was sixty years to the day that Bill Nicholson launched his career as Tottenham s greatest manager with an extraordinary 10-4 victory over Everton at the old (always much-loved) White Hart Lane. These days the folks that are banging on about the merits of losing and the mask slipping can be found on Sky Sports as they talk about Jose Mourinho and his new job as Spurs manager. Jim White stopped himself just short of saying here we go after Mourinho lost his first game in charge of Spurs away to Manchester United.

Early in the second half, Hojbjerg sent Kulusevski away. He showed good skill before passing to Son, who teed up Richarlison to his left. "Richie" skied his shot.Villa were down to ten men soon afterwards when Watkins was given a second booking for simulation when challenged by Henderson. United saw out the six minutes of added time and with the win ensured that their City rivals have to wait to celebrate the Premier League title. In fact, United play two more games before City play on Friday night, so they could even draw six points closer. Bren Gun Johnson can be Tottenham's hidden weapon - Norman Giller's 450th article for Spurs Odyssey Until Monday, when he scored our second goal, all seven of James Maddison's goal involvements for Tottenham in the Premier League this season had been away, scoring twice and providing five assists.

Spurs fans in the Estadio Metropolitano were joined by a line of Spurs legends such as Cliff Jones, who played in the historic 1963 European Cup Winners Cup Final against our hosts tonight - Atletico Madrid. Thousands more had made the trip to Madrid, just to "be there". A full house had attended the live screening at New White Hart Lane. Millions more ardent Spurs fans around the world tuned in with the hope that their beloved Spurs could reach their pinnacle of becoming Champions of Europe. There were four twitchy minutes of added time for Steve Bruce and his men. In the first of these, Perez had a close range shot following Thomas's short ball inside the area. Dubravka made a brilliant close-range reaction save. That was the last of Leicester’s chances. In the second half Ziyech hit a shot on target which was easy for Ederson and as the hour mark approached, City were put under a little pressure before Pulisic fired over from 20 yards. Ziyech did level the scores in the 63rd minute when Azpilicueta crossed from the right and the goal came with a low left foot shot from the edge of the box, squeezed inside Ederson's left post. Hojbjerg got the first of only two yellow cards on the night when he unfairly brought a charge by Willian to a halt. Spurs' first goal soon followed after a Fulham error and a sharp ball forward to Richarlison on the left. Fulham had been caught unawares and Son took Richarlison's pass, turning swiftly to his right before unleashing an unstoppable right-footer. It was Son's seventh goal of the season and his fiftieth in our new stadium. Remember "Sonny" had scored our first senior goal in the stadium (against Crystal Palace) in April 2019. Spurs recent Worthington Cup clash with Torquay evoked memories of the late Cyril Knowles, who graced White Hart lane for so many years, but who also had a spell at Torquay as manager before his tragic and early passing in 1991. December has been a month of tremendous entertainment for Spurs fans; a month of noticeable progress for the team; and a month of triumph over several cases of adversity for Juande Ramos and his staff.

Andy Madley is our match referee for the first time this season and the fifth time in all. Last season we saw him three times, losing two and winning just one game. That win was the 1-0 home win against Manchester City. The last time Mr. Madley refereed Crystal Palace was when they lost 3-0 at home on Boxing Day to Fulham. Palace had two players sent off that day. Norman has had a long and illustrious career in sports journalism, and has always had Spurs close to his heart, even if he wasn't always allowed to write about them exclusively! Villa were under pressure early in the second half and referee Chris Kavanagh pointed to the spot when Pogba fell under the challenges of Douglas Luiz. You know who (Bruno Fernandes) stepped up and skipped before scoring to the left of Martinez who had gone the wrong way. (52 mins) It was 2-1 to United four minutes later when Wan-Bissaka passed inside to Greenwood, who turned Tyrone Mings before scoring inside the keeper's left post. This match was a rehearsal for the Champions League Final and City were looking for a win to seal their fifth Premier League title and their third title in four years. Pep Guardiola made no less than 9 changes from the midweek Champions League semi-final tie. Ederson and Ruben Dias were the only surviving starters. Chelsea made five changes from their midweek success and included midfielder Billy Gilmour. Reece James, Alonso, Ziyech and Pulisic also started. Perhaps it wasn't so much of a rehearsal after all. Norman Giller truly excelled with this detailed account of Peter McWilliam, who led us to FA Cup victory in 1921. Norman also found space to detail the scandal of Arsenal securing a First Division place when the Football League resumed after the Great War. You might not have read this tale in such detail before!Fulham had their moments with Vicario having to save from Jimenez after Kulusevski had lost the ball after seemingly being fouled on the advance. Vicario was booked for trying to slow the game down top much. Vicario saved comfortably from Cairney after a pass by Jimenez. Spurs Odyssey Message Board member "Huk" had a very privileged upbringing near White Hart Lane in Creighton Road. "Huk" was not and is not a rich man. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. So what was so special about his life so near to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club? Well, our man "Huk" used to live next door but one to THE Spurs Legend, the late, great "Sir" Bill Nicholson. The Spurs Odyssey tribute to len Duquemin was published in April, 2003. Most of the article was written by Brian Judson. Harry Maguire tried to carry on after treatment when he collided with El Ghazi, but he had to be replaced by Bailly. Maguire ended a run of 71 consecutive Premier League matches for Manchester United in which he completed 90 minutes. Villa tried to take advantage of the disruption caused in the United defence without success. Cavani made it 3-1 in the 87th minute when Rashford crossed from the right and the Uruguayan glanced a neat header across Martinez into the far corner. Norman's articles offer a deep insight into current affairs at Tottenham, and a unique inside view on our illustrious history.
