About this deal

One book that I really think children should read is The Book That No One Wanted to Read." David Baddiel

Richard Ayoade is a highly-tolerated British comedian, BAFTA-winning actor ( The IT Crowd), writer, director and TV presenter (the 2021 BAFTAS, Have I Got News For You?, Travel Man) and a bibliophile. He regularly appears on comedy panel shows such as 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year. He wrote and directed the film Submarine from the novel by Joe Dunthorne, and directed and co-wrote (with Avi Korine) The Double. He has written three books on film; this is his debut children's book. He is married to Lydia, who is also his wife. They have two children, who also have names. They would rather not tell you where they live, but are happy to send you a drop pin via text. He asks us what's underneath our covers? What are we actually like? ( I love how he's making us go deeper, into ourselves to dig more into who we are, inside.) Richard Ayoade is an actor, writer and director best known for his BAFTA-winning role as Maurice Moss in the British comedy The IT Crowd, and for directing the 2010 comedy film Submarine. He’s also written books about film. The Book That No One Wanted to Read is his first book written for younger readers, and his trademark dry and irreverent humour shines through brilliantly.I was glad it wasn't much longer, the length seemed just about right, and actually, despite Ayoade being quite clear that there isn't a point in these literary shenanigans, well actually there might be just one or two, hidden in there (don't tell the kids, folks, works better when they think it's pure popcorn).

Very funny, with brilliant illustrations. It should be called The Book That Everyone Wanted To Read." Nadia ShireenRoaming the aisles of the library, seeking our next great read – is there anything quite like it? It’s almost as if the books call out to us, imploring us to single them out from their neighbors and get lost in the worlds they depict.

I found this to be an ambitious and enjoyable read. The premise was clever and made me laugh a few times. This is a work of fiction that is aware of its own fictionality. The book is about a book that no one wants to read, and it explores the concept of how a book can be interesting even if no one wants to read it.It’s another Bookwagon day in our house. The kids were so excited to get their latest books in the post. Why has nobody thought of this before?! Utter genius. A book, told as though by the book itself, filled with belly laughs, ire and actually a good lesson or two as well! Books can contain stories or facts about, and therefore be, virtually anything you can think of, but have you ever considered what a book might think about and feel? One neglected book in The Book That No One Wanted to Read, by Richard Ayoade and illustrated by Tor Freeman, has a chance to change its destiny when a reader encounters it and pulls it from a hiding spot on a high shelf, offering it a new future.
