In terms of noise I measured the iRobot Roomba i7+ at 65.1dB, which is about average for robot vacuum cleaners. It’s loud, but not to a level that it’s distracting. You should tap out the HEPA filter once a week over a dustbin or sink. We also recommend replacing the HEPA filter after approx. 4 - 6 months. When the iRobot Roomba i7 came out, it wasn’t possible to create no-go zones. iRobot released an update for that afterwards, which is why the virtual wall is kind of out-of-date these days :)

You can send the iRobot to clean a specific room, let it vacuum your bedroom first and then your living room. You can tell Roomba i7 Plus to clean your living room in the evening.

Making the worst part of robot vacuums a lot better

While the Clean Base doesn’t take up any more floor space than a regular charger, it’s significantly higher and won’t fit under furniture, so you need to place it somewhere out in the open. Once your Roomba i7+ has uploaded detailed maps of your room layouts, it will assume a much more efficient cleaning pattern of pacing across each room in as straight of lines as possible. iRobot calls this ‘Imprint Smart Mapping,’ and claims that this new method will save both energy and time. You can still have a conversation in the same room - while the robot vacuum is doing its work - but it’s not that pleasant. The same applies to watching TV in the same room. It doesn’t provide the deepest clean, then, but the iRobot Roomba i7+ is still a good robot cleaner. It will deal with standard mess around your home, particularly if used regularly, requiring you to use a manual vacuum cleaner less often. However, your Roomba i7+ won’t come out of box knowing how every room in your home is laid out. It will have to learn them through its first few cleanings. During this process, the cleaning pattern of the Roomba i7+ will look much like that of the Roomba 980, as viewable through the companion app.

Developing the smart maps doesn't take much time, in the grand scheme of things, the better part of a week. From there, you can tell Roomba to clean specific rooms in your space after you've designated those spaces using the iRobot app. You can operate the following touch screen buttons at the robot vacuum’s top: " Clean" (2) (start/stop cleaning process), " Home" (3) (return to charging station) and " Spot Clean" (1) (clean one precise spot). The dust bag in the clean base is large and takes quite a long time to fill up, depending on how dirty your home is. If you have pets, it’ll fill up much faster.
