Description

When both his parents passed away, the Prophet was taken into the custody of his grandfather, ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, who also had a special affinity to the Prophet . However, two years later at the tender age of eight, the Prophet once again became an orphan as ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib passed away. The Prophet was then entrusted to his uncle, Abū Ṭālib, who raised the Prophet and lived a long life, passing away when the Prophet was over 50 years old. Qadhi was a guest on an episode of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates's television genealogy series Finding Your Roots on PBS. [1] Views [ edit ] Jihad [ edit ] Abbān, the son of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān iii , also wrote a booklet on the sīrah. Other children of the Companions also wrote their own booklets. Ibn Shihāb al-Zuhrī then wrote one of the first treatises of sīrah. The aforementioned books no longer exist because they were absorbed by the books written in the following generation, who compiled multiple texts to create a comprehensive account of the Prophet’s life . Al-Rubayyiʿ bint Muʿawwidh was asked about the appearance of the Prophet , and all she could say was, My son, if you could have seen him, you would have thought that the Sun had risen up. 13 In a perfect juxtaposition, Kaʿb ibn Mālik described him as the Moon, Whenever the Prophet was happy, his face would light up as if it were the full Moon.14 Likewise, Jābir ibn Samurah said, I saw the Prophet walking one night and beside him was a full Moon. By Allah, he was more beautiful in my eyes than the full Moon.15 ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ —once a staunch opposer xi of Islam—said, There was nothing more beloved to me than to stare at the face of the Prophet , and I would never suffice myself from looking at him. However, were you to ask me how to describe him, I could not, as I would lower my gaze out of awe.16

After a short stint working in engineering at Dow Chemical, in 1996 Qadhi enrolled at the Islamic University of Medinah in Medina, Saudi Arabia. There, he earned a bachelor's degree in Arabic from the university's College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences and a master's degree in Islamic Theology from its College of Dawah. [3] [7] [15] Qadhi returned to the United States after working and studying for nine years in Saudi Arabia. [15] He completed a doctorate in theology at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Those who fall will enter the Hellfire, and people’s ability to cross will be determined by their deeds in this life. Goodsteinmay 8, 2016, Laurie (May 8, 2016). Books written about the miracles of the Prophet PBUH. In Arabic, this is called dala'il (دلائل). The most famous is Dala'il al-Nubuwwah (دلائل النبوة - The Signs of Prophethood) by al-Bayhaqi (البيهقي) — a massive encyclopedia with ~12 volumes. To truly delve into the life of our noble Prophet , it is appropriate to first outline and discuss his unique characteristics, known as the shamā’il. Learning about the characteristics of the Prophet provides motivation and builds desire to learn more about him; his teachings and morals, the incidents that occurred in his life, and the lessons therein.Values section on the other hand is very special. We created it for only one thing in mind; to create a peaceful corner that features just inspiring and uplifting material, focused around Universal Values to be reflect upon -- at a time never needed more desperately than now The Prophet was a man of the people. A female Companion said, It was possible for any little girl to grab the hand of the Prophet and ask him to do any chore for her. 28 He would also joke with his Ummah, but only with innocent jokes free from lies. When an elderly lady asked the Prophet about Paradise, he replied, Haven’t you been informed that old ladies cannot enter Paradise? As she began to cry and wail, the Prophet interrupted her and clarified, "Don’t cry. By Allah, old ladies cannot enter Paradise because Allah will first make them into young maidens and then enter them into Paradise."29 He was sincere, approachable, and compassionate; yet strong, courageous, and dependable . al-Shifa by Qadhi Iyadh – This is an English translation of the famous classical book Al-shifa bi ta’rif huquq al-Mustafa (Healing by the recognition of the Rights of the Chosen one). The whole point of his book is to build a strong sense of awe and love of the Messenger (pbuh) in the person’s heart and to make you realize why he is so important. He attempts to emotionally connect the reader to the beloved of Allah (pbuh). It heavily focuses on the Prophet’s character, qualities, virtues, and miracles. It’s beautifully written. If you read it properly, you would not pass a day except by sending darood on the Messenger (pbuh). Now, there are some really weak stuff in the book as well and you can refer to a critical annotated commentary of it by Ali Kawshk. However, it is only available in Arabic. The number of these weak reports in the book are not a lot and does NOT take away from the overall value of this masterpiece at all. The translation is done by none other than Aisha Bewley, who is one of today’s most prolific translators of classical Arabic works into English. For more than thirty-five years she has been concerned with making the contents of many classical Arabic works more accessible to English-speaking readers. I trust her translations.

The Sirah of the Prophet (pbuh): A Contemporary and Original

The Prophet stated, Allah chose Kinānah from all of the descendants of Ismāʿīl, and He chose the Quraysh from Kinānah, and He chose Banū Hāshim from the Quraysh, and He chose me from Banū Hāshim. 49 The Prophet’s lineage is therefore the most noble lineage to exist. U.S. Muslim group denounces 'historic injustice of the Holocaust' ". CNN. Archived from the original on August 22, 2010 . Retrieved August 23, 2010. In July 2010, Qadhi was selected to participate in an official delegation of eight U.S. imams and Jewish religious leaders to visit the concentration camps at Auschwitz and Dachau. The imams subsequently released a joint statement condemning anti-Semitism and labeling Holocaust denial as against the ethics of Islam. [27]There is no verified information about the lineage between Adam and Ismāʿīl . There are a handful of opinions regarding the lineage between Ismāʿīl and ʿAdnān, but none of them have authentic sources to verify their claims. Modern archaeology dictates that homo sapiens have existed for tens of thousands of years at least. Credible scientific evidence even suggests over one hundred thousand years. Islamic creed need not reject this, as we do not have textual basis to argue the contrary. A Hadith states that Allah created the children of Adam, and Adam saw a bright light amongst his children. He asked, Who is this, O Allah? and Allah responded, This is your son, Dāwūd, who shall live towards the end of times. 48 If Dāwūd , who lived thousands of years before the time of Muhammad , is considered to have lived towards the end of time, then it is reasonable to assume that humanity has lived for much longer than a few thousand years. Sirat Ibn Hisham by Ibn Hisham – This is a translation of an abridged version of one of the primary and earliest sources for the Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) life. xiv The generation after the Companions (Ṣaḥābah) of the Prophet , referred to as the Successors (Tābiʿūn).

The purpose of Allah sending prophets is so that we have a living example to follow. Allah tells us in the Quran that if He had wanted, He could have sent angels [see Quran, 17:95]. But what would the nonbelievers have done if Allah sent angels? They would have rejected them [see Quran, 6:8-9]. This meant that this Seerah book was more than a Seerah book and really felt like the Prophet was here and relevant to us. It really reconnects the heart to the Prophet (SAW) Al-ʿArab al-Bāqiyah are still in existence. They are comprised of two subgroups: Qahṭān and ʿAdnān. Qahṭān is considered the father of the Arabs. The word Arab is linguistically derived from his son, Yaʿrab (or Yaʿrib). Most scholars opine that Qahṭān’s lineage extends to Nūḥ through his son, Sām, father of the Semites. 37 A second minority opinion is that Qahṭān is also a direct descendent of Ibrāhīm ,38 and a third opinion is that Qahṭān is descended from Hūd .39 The Qahṭānīs are known as al-ʿArab al-ʿĀribah (The Original Arabs). I would advice the following Sirah books are better written and cover various topics and a more competitive price. The lineage of the Prophet Muhammad to ʿAdnān is, in contrast, well documented and without controversy. It is as follows: M.A. Islamic Creed, B.A. Islamic Sciences, Associate's degree Arabic Language from Univerity of Madinah. Every other Friday, we try to feature a new theme which will uplift our spirituality. Our themes mostly focus on the universal values such as compassion, patience, love and so on. The above list of names given to the Prophet are descriptive in nature, functioning more as adjectives. The only two proper nouns by which Allah names the Prophet are: Muhammad and Aḥmad. The name Muhammad is mentioned in the Qur’an four times, 6 and the name Aḥmad is mentioned once, which was via the tongue of Jesus Christ .7 Both Aḥmad and Muhammad are derived from the root word ḥamd. The closest English equivalent to the word ḥamd is praise. There is, however, a distinction to be made between ḥamd and praise. Ḥamd is more accurately defined as a combination of thanks ( shukr) and praise ( madḥ). Being thankful to someone does not necessitate praise, and vice versa. For example, if somebody lends you money, you thank them, but may not necessarily praise them. Likewise, you may praise a talented athlete, but you are not thanking them per se. Ḥamd is given to an entity irrespective of what has been done to you. When we say " alḥamdulillāh", it is because Allah is inherently worthy of being praised; even if we did not exist, He would still be worthy of praise . a b Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi | Q&A | is invoking saints shirk, charity as tax deductions? , retrieved January 27, 2022
