About this deal

The DDJ-SB3 features straightforward audio connections. Headphones connect to the front of the controller using a smaller 1/8th TRS connection. Speakers connect to the two RCA line-level outputs on the rear, labelled master. These are colour coded with the red connection for the right speaker and white being for the left. Before connecting the DDJ-SB3, ensure the latest version of Djay is installed from the App Store . The USB-B port on the rear of the DDJ-SB3 connects the controller and powers it. Using this supplied cable to connect iOS devices does require adaptors which we will link below. Also, the Serato DJ and Rekordbox are literally similar, so there's no need to use the Rekordbox on the SB3. What software does DDJ-400 use? This controller is a better choice for entry-level users because it is similar to what they were taught.

They don't need to pay for the full software anymore because the price for the premium has already been added to the controller's total cost. Users may not be happy if they have to pay an extra fee after already giving much for the SB3 controllers. In this video, DJ Holland explains how to get started performing your first mix on Algoriddim DJAY. Learn how to stream music and perform your first mix. Although this video doesn’t use a DDJ-SB3, the application’s basic navigation and managing the library inside DJAY still applies. Before connecting the Pioneer DJ DDJ-SB3, ensure you have the latest version of Serato installed on your computer, available here .The DDJ-400 works best when it is used with the Rekordbox - its built-in software, and the Rekordbox and Serato are really similar, so we don't recommend you use Serato on the DDJ 400. However, if they don't want to buy the Premium Serato DJ, it's still fine because the "Intro" features itself are enough for the DJ job. The DDJ-400 does away with the individual FX sections and instead distils all FX control into a Beat FX strip that sits beside the mixer at the centre of the unit. This is consistent with the Beat FX that you’d find on a Pioneer DJ DJM mixer such as the DJM-900NXS2, DJM-450, DJM-750MK2 and so on. This allows beginner DJs to get used to tweaking with Beat FX at home so it isn’t confusing when getting behind a CDJ/DJM set-up, which admittedly isn’t as intuitive as using the individual FX sections of past DDJ controllers. 5. Performance pad functions Users with USB-C iPad devices can bypass the adaptor, using a USB-B to USB-C cable. Do note this method disables the iPad charging, so keep an eye on battery levels! In addition to the above-mentioned features, there is the new Pad Scratch which allows you to reproduce scratches based on the recordings provided by DJ Jazzy Jeff, simply at the press of a button. There are eight different scratch techniques that have been provided by the well-known DJ, and the scratch speed will automatically match the BPM; so even with little knowledge or experience quality sounding performances can be created. Pad Scratch can be used on its own, or in conjunction with your own scratching, which allows for boundless creative potential.

Both are fantastic entry-level DJ controllers at beginner-friendly prices, and ultimately your decision will hinge on whether you’d like to spin with Serato DJ or Rekordbox DJ. You do lose the Pad Scratch feature if you go with the DDJ-400, but you can scratch on both devices using the jogwheels anyway. In contrast, the DDJ SB3 has a more basic system. There is a big autoloop button and two small ones for double and cut half the loop. The other yellow button is used for re-looping and resizing the loop. All these great features are more than what you can expect from a low-budget controller. The DDJ-400 and DDJ-SB3 have a similar overall size and weight. Both are Pioneer DJ’s most compact devices in its DDJ range of controllers, and while their general build is similar, the main differences lay in the controls and how they are laid out on both devices.
