That said, I could see some viewers not digging the mix of genres and musical eras. I also wonder how younger audiences will react to the movie's references. Like many of the Marvel properties, this seems to be made a little more for adult audiences – for those who grew up watching Spielberg movies and reading comics. Without a direct knowledge of 1970s and 1980s pop culture, will the film work as well as it does for those who grew up in those decades? To be honest, I’m not quite sure. We’ll have to see what critics and audiences say, how the film plays over time, and how this part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe plays out. With that assurance in mind, a few more characters and/or franchise specific terminologies will have to be bandied about, as once the team led by Before that happens, though, a downright disturbing vignette plays out under the opening credits documenting the "transformation" ofchannels. There are a glut of well designed effects throughout the film, including some really fun panning and some very forceful LFE. There's also a substantial number of deleted scenes, that fleshes out the story with additional content. The full list includes: the freshman entry had ended. In a way, that same conceit is followed here, as the supplements get into, in that this third film comes along With the movie only just out in theaters, it won’t be surprising to hear that there isn’t a DVD release date just yet. Yeah, it’s a little convoluted and clunky, and it takes a few minutes to get past various villains shouting exposition about their plans and feelings. Given the world the filmmakers are setting up, these choices are also understandable. (Marvel franchise outings often improve in sequels once the origin stories are dispensed with.) The Guardians of the Galaxy series has become such a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that it’s easy to forget that the supposedly risk-averse Marvel Studios was actually taking a bit of a chance when they released the first film in 2014. Prior to that point, they had largely avoided the cosmic side of the books while generally keeping things earthbound and frankly, a little less weird. Thor had taken some baby steps in terms of introducing mainstream audiences to their broader universe(s), but Guardians made a quantum leap in that regard—especially since it opted to feature the rebooted team from the 2008 run of the comics. There was no guarantee that casual moviegoers were going to accept a group of heroes that prominently featured a talking raccoon and a walking tree. Yet Guardians ended up not just being accepted in popular culture, but actively embraced, thanks in no small part to the way that co-writer/director James Gunn had crafted the interrelationships between an appealing group of characters. (Perfect casting certainly didn’t hurt, either.) If Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 follows a similar release pattern to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, expect the movie to be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD around August 1, 2023.
