Michelle Keegan's next project is revealed as chilling Netflix adaptation of best-selling thriller - and fans don't have long to wait Pixie Geldof looks typically stylish in a plunging knit jumper as she joins Gugu Mbatha-Raw at the opening event ofSézane inMarylebone Pandora has been described as a visceral book that explores all five senses of Sight, Sound, Touch, Scent and Taste in eighteenth-century London. How well do you feel the novel portrayed them? What parts were especially evocative?Pandora (Dora) Blake's parents died when she was younger and she was taken in by her uncle who is now running the business. Or more accurately running it into the ground. A business dealing in antiques that her parents built up. She realises her uncle is up to something and her curiosity leads to the discovery of an ancient vase called a pithos (a large earthenware storage jar)

As far as the ending goes, that was rather less polished. Some things happen fairly randomly and others were not clearly explained, giving a minor impression that the author was making some of it up as she went along. There were some good twists and revelations along the way, but one or two others did not feel quite right in the context of the story. I love a Greek myth, so a historical late-18th century mystery centred around Pandora's Box was always going to be intriguing, and after reading the sampler, I coudn't wait to read this book. Evil already stalks orphaned young Pandora Blake's life in the shape of her uncle Hezakiah, who has taken over her parents' antiquary shop and run it into disrepute with his collection of forgeries. Now Hezekiah is hiding something in the basement - an ancient artefact that itself hides secrets, and he's prepared to do anything to uncover them. Scarlett Johansson takes legal action against AI app which used her name and likeness for an ad without permission Big Brother:Dylan, Noky, Paul and Trish announced as the next four housemates up for eviction and will face the public vote A gripping narrative in which secrets from the past are slowly and ingeniously revealed' Sunday Times

The mistranslation of pithosis usually attributed to the sixteenth-century philosopher Erasmus who, in his Latin account of the story of Pandora, changed the Greek pithos to pyxis, meaning “box”. Did you know this? This was a superb debut, easy to read and not overtly historical-heavy. Dora the explorer (look someone had to say it) made for great reading and I’d jump on another release from this author.
