About this deal

At one point in time, the MX Anywhere 2S was actually the more expensive out of these two mice – by a significant margin, too. PCMag UK Reviews Input Devices Computer Mice Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Review The Logitech MX Anywhere 2 is a well-built, versatile mouse that lives up to its name with a travel-friendly design and a sensor that works on nearly every surface. The materials don't feel cheap, and it has a nice heft for something so small, even though it's not at all heavy.

The scroll wheel is ridged rubber in the center and metal on the sides, and can be pressed in to change its function. I wouldn't personally choose it as my main desk mouse if it was never going to be taken elsewhere as there are larger, more sensible options for that, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable. This is good for, say, flying through a long document or zooming back to the top of your Twitter feed, and it feels oddly satisfying.

However, this isn’t the only difference to note between the Logitech MX Anywhere 2 and the Logitech MX Anywhere 2s. While that may sound like an ominous Lex Luthor weapon, it's Logitech's laser tracking technology that allows the mouse to track accurately on virtually any surface. The software is very flexible, so you can make the scroll wheel pushes (or any of the buttons) perform specific functions like pulling up the calculator, raising the volume, or even executing a macro like Control-V to paste. The LED on top of the mouse turns red to indicate that battery power is low and it’s time to change batteries. In both form and function, the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S succeeds as one of the best travel companion mice out there.

You can use Logitech Options software for Mac or Windows to customize the actions that are performed when you use the buttons on your MX Anywhere 2 mouse. Combined with the ease of wireless syncing and three-device pairing, hopping between machines to continue your work is made incredibly easy and efficient. The 2s feels a little bit cheaper than the 2, although there’s very little difference between them in all honesty. com and PC Magazine are among the federally registered trademarks of Ziff Davis and may not be used by third parties without explicit permission. The Anywhere 2S does feel small, but I ultimately think it boils down to personal preference whether that's an issue, because there isn't anything inherently wrong with the shape or design.Installation of Logitech Options transforms the middle button into a gesture button you can use to trigger gestures that simplify desktop and application management, media control, document viewing, and personalization of common tasks. Although the Anywhere 2s doesn’t have anything majorly different in terms of build quality, it seems like the scrolling wheel is a little looser than the 2, which was more sturdy and slightly less noisy than the newer model.

Once you pair with a computer or tablet (the Anywhere 2S works with either Windows or Mac), you can press this button to switch between them on the fly, and three indicator lights above the button tell you which link is currently active. That exact time will vary depending on usage but that's the ballpark you can expect, and if you remember to plug it in even occasionally, you'll run out of juice infrequently—possibly never. Rather than using irregularities in the surface to track movements, Darkfield uses tiny details to create a "micro-road map" of the surface and detect position changes. This number of buttons is pretty good for a mouse, though if you’re not gaming, you may find some of them obsolete. So what are the differences between these two mice, and how can you determine which one would be a better purchase for yourself?
