Forget your run-of-the-mill cask finishing – Jameson Remixed Caribbean Beats is the result of a 21-year commitment to maturation in rum-seasoned casks, and is the latest expression to join The Jameson Anthology series. The pot still whiskey and the grain whiskey that goes into the new bottling both spent 18 years in rum casks sourced from Barbados.

The Service has been prepared by us solely for information purposes to Members and the Service is based on information we consider reliable and we obtain the contents of the Service from a number of different third party sources (including Contributions), but we do not endorse, support, represent, warrant or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of the Services and any information therein. Bottled at a cask strength of 57.2 percent, the online ballot will open first to members of the Barrel Club Midleton Distillery at 2pm Irish Saving Time (IST) on November 10th. The second ballot will be open to everyone from 2pm (IST) on November 11th.

Our World

Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. Thanks to more than two decades fully maturing in rum casks, Jameson Remixed Caribbean Beats offers aromas of warming spice, figs, toasted almonds, muscovado sugar, and coconut shavings. Upon sipping, the flavour reveals notes of chocolate-dipped honeycomb, orange zest and mango. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Medina agrees, praising the decisions made around keeping the whiskey a little longer in its rum casks, before moving the liquid into the Havana Club casks. Jameson 18 Years is a premium Irish whiskey that is aged for at least 18 years in a combination of American and Spanish oak barrels. It is a blend of three signature distillates, including pot still whiskey and grain whiskey. How is Jameson 18 Years made?

We played around with prototypes. I think we brought it down to three in terms of the amount of grain involved,” O’Gorman explains. “We felt that we wanted to keep the grain element slightly higher to keep the balance between the vanilla, the wood spices and the fruit flavours. Then we brought it all together. Our typical grain whiskey, particularly at this age of 21 years, has lovely rounded vanilla, toffee sweetness, almost honey flavours. And then the pot still whiskey would typically be quite spicy, with dark fruits. What we found was that because of the rum, those individual elements were elevated quite a bit. So it really worked well in terms of enhancing those flavours. It’s like any whiskey: timing is important. And we felt that the balance was just right.” That’s not the end of things. After that three years of finishing, those casks were then finally married with additional pot still whiskies that had fully matured for over 21 years in first fill oloroso sherry seasoned wine casks. Sure, they could’ve shared even more details, but in an industry that isn’t always very generous with information, I’m pretty happy with all this. The single pot still and single grain initially matured in a range of ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry seasoned casks at Midleton Distillery for 18 years. Following on from that first maturation period, these whiskies were then blended and re-casked into freshly emptied ex-bourbon barrels for an additional three years.
